Lenses / Is my Canon lens defect?
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:19:21 AM »
Hello,

I have a quite new 70-200 IS USM and have trouble with manual focus on it. If I turn the focusring the focussing doesn't follow fast and properly. E.g. if I try to focus manually from infinity to close focus then if I turn the focus at first nothing happens and then if follow but not with a constant movement.

Something must be really wrong or is it me?

Cheers

EOS Bodies - For Video / 6D not usable for shooting video?
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:28:25 AM »
Hello,

I think many like myself are thinking about getting the 6D for video instead of the Mark 3 as it is about $1000 cheaper. So I ordered one early Dec 12 for shooting video. Unfortunately I found out pretty fast that the moire and aliasing issues are so bad that the camera is unusable for video production. I sold it on eBay and now bought the Canon 5D Mark 3 instead. For taking pictures the camera is wonderful and I can highly recommend it.

To show the moire and aliasing issues I uploaded this simple clip.

As I thought this might be of general interest I shared it as this buying and selling costed me more pennies then I liked.

Hello,

I would like to record myself on video on my 5D M3 and wonder how I could remotely start recording or get the autofocus to focus?

Any ideas how a possible workflow could look like?

Thanks a lot.

Lenses / 17-40 - slim fit filter required or not ?
« on: December 13, 2012, 11:45:25 AM »
Hello,

I have a Canon 6D and I want to order a 17-40. I am wondering what filter I need, slim fit (slim size, ... whatever you call that) or regular size. If I use a regular size filter will I see vignetting?

In addition - is it possible to stack filter? E.g. add on top of the UV filter a pol filter or will I see vignetting? My question is not related to the mechanical possibility but just on the optical, so will I see at 17mm the filter in the picture?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Best regards
- Andreas
