Lenses / On a crop sensor...EF17-40L or EFS15-85?

Will also be using the 50mm 1.8 Mk1 and the 70-200 F4. Little price difference but which would you choose and why?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / New 60D or Second-hand 7D?
« on: October 08, 2012, 02:35:35 PM »
Well finally the cheque I've been waiting for has arrived and I'm ready to order my new kit! I'll get the EFS 15-85 and the EF 70-200 F4. I already have a 50 f1.8 mk1 and a 28-80 f3.5-5.6 mk2 from my single remaining film body (an EOS 10QD)

I'm almost decided on the 60D body - my budget will stretch to this new but wonder if a second-hand 7D body would be a better choice? I shoot a bit of everything except weddings(!) and do so for fun rather than money. I have a number of SD/SDHC cards already but no CF cards.

Opinions please? And if anyone is interested in a 10QD and 28-80 for their collection make me an offer and I'll but the cash toward a EFS 10-22!  ;D

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Lenses / First lenses for new crop sensor camera?
« on: September 21, 2012, 04:22:20 PM »
Hi all

I'll shortly be buying my first Canon DSLR. I shot just about everything with the exception of birds. I am tending toward the EFS 15-85mm and the EF 70-200 f4 as my first lenses to go with the 50mm f1.8 mk1 I have retained from my film bodies.  Are these a good choice or would there be a better combination to cover a similar range?
Any thoughts appreciated!

EOS Bodies / Budget camera body choice
« on: September 18, 2012, 07:11:57 AM »
Hi all
I'm on the cusp of buying my first dslr having used Canon film bodies back to the AE1 program and the (wonderful) T-90 and the original EOS1.

With my limited budget I have narrowed my options down to the 15-85 f3.5-5.6 and the 70-200 f4 with a battery grip (large hands!) and either a) EOS 60d or b) EOS 650D.

Can I get your opinions please?
