Hello Everyone,

I experimented doing some video with the Canon 8-15mm Fisheye lens.  It is definitely a specialized look.
Have a look.  I found that movement and spinning served it well, but obvisouly this needs to be done in the right circumstance.  Let me know what you think.

Coral Reef - Circular Experiment, Canon 5d Mark II

Does anyone know if it is possible to make it record a full circle, instead of cutting off the top and bottom?

Thanks,

Video & Movie / Super Macro Underwater / ISS Timelapse short film
« on: April 17, 2014, 04:02:04 PM »
Hello everyone,

I put together a short underwater film called Critter Planet.  It is filled with very rare underwater creatures, one of which a Kalinga Ornata nudibranch, is so rare, that as far as I can see I am the only one in the world with video footage of it in its natural habitat.

To better tell the story, I also incorporated some timelapse from the ISS.   Also, have done some narration for the first time.  Check it out, and let me know what you think.

« on: February 27, 2014, 05:27:50 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share my latest underwater film - Darwin's Dream. I was lucky enough to have it awarded the bronze award at the Our World Underwater film competition. Galapagos is an amazing destination both below and above the surface. This was shot in only 5 short days of diving. At the end of the film you will see we had a special visitor. It was very exciting. Let me know what you think.
Please feel free to like, share and comment!

Video & Movie / Hunting CuttleFish
« on: February 09, 2014, 07:18:38 PM »
Hello,

I had an amazing experience of doing a night dive with this cuttlefish.  It used my lights to hunt.  It was amazing to watch.  I was using the 100mm macro lens.  So as you can image handholding it in water is a bit of a challenge to keep focus.  But I did my best.
Enjoy!

So I've decided most things are much more awesome underwater than on land.  Check out these sea slugs and how colorful they are.
Enjoy!

Video & Movie / Iguanas Underwater
« on: November 05, 2013, 11:13:12 AM »
Hello Everyone,

Went diving in the Galapagos in August for the first time, and boy was that an interesting destination!  We pretty much saw everything...Really a spectacular trip, above and below water.

One dive, which has to be one of the most unique I have ever done/heard of...is the Marine Iguana dive.  During a certain hour of the day, the Marine Iguanas head to the ocean from the land and swim and eat the seaweed and algae.  Hundreds of them are in the water.  Really a fun dive...cold but fun!  We lucked out with excellent visibility, which is not typically the case in this particular dive.

Here is a video I put together of it.  Please feel free to Share or Like it.  Also, any comments good or bad are welcome.
Enjoy,

Dustin

Video & Movie / Underwater Macro Video - Canon 5d Mark II
« on: May 30, 2013, 02:49:11 PM »
Hello all:

I wanted to share an underwater macro video I made.  You can see it here:

https://vimeo.com/66974789

This is the 5 minute version.  I also have a 3 minute version that won first place in the SEA International Video Competition.  It was filmed strictly with a Canon 5d Mark II, and a 100mm USM Macro lens. I also used a Subsee +10 underwater wet diopter.  Some of the things in the video are incredibly small.  The seahorse you will see, is about the size of a grain of rice.

Curious to see what your impressions and thoughts are.  So please feel free to share any comments.

Thanks,
Dustin
