Canon General / necessity of photography school
« on: December 19, 2012, 09:42:20 AM »
A few photography school related questions.

for those who went to school, do you feel like you learned a great amount, or was it more of a business decision to have a diploma.

And from 1 to 10, where would you say you were at before and then after 1 = not knowing you can take off the lens on a slr.  10 = Neuroanatomist

And lastly, could you have learned the same from the internet and experienced friends?

Edit- I do consider photography a form of art and when I said learn, I meant more than just the tech aspect.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / digital camera as light meter
« on: December 11, 2012, 01:12:29 PM »
Hopefully a simple question. Can I use my camera as a advanced light meter for a medium format film camera?  I could just get a light meter, but if I could see in advance exactly ( or very close ) what the image will look like, I would prefer that.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Only 1 lens
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:25:50 PM »
If you had to start all over and have only one camera and one lens, what would it be?
 I'm selling my:
5d mkii
24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8
and my 580ex
and using as little of that money to reduce my gear.

My family comes first and life isnt free, but i dont want to give up on photography, which has been my life since i was 17.

I know the overall "profit" ill make wont be a huge amount, but im 25 with a 9 month old and every penny counts right now.

I picked my current gear for landscapes and portraits. So that's what im looking to still be able to do. I probably cant have the best of both worlds, and something that does both, isnt likely to do it as well as what i have. but downgrading for money is looking to be my only option right now.
