Landscape / The old red barn
« on: March 14, 2013, 10:27:32 PM »
Took this shot of the old red barn the other day as the sun was setting. Did a bit of post processing in Lightroom 4, but not much, I'm a fan of using as much of the in camera image as I can.

What other adjustments would you make? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Lenses / IS or no IS?
« on: February 07, 2013, 04:58:34 PM »
I'm looking into Tamron's 70-200 f/2.8 and my current debate is whether or not to go with the IS version or non IS version.

For a bit of context, I do mostly video work, narrative shorts and the like. I'm looking into getting into more photo work like weddings and similar events. My main body is a 7D and I'm looking to a full frame body to that somewhere along the line.

What are everybody's experiences with IS, especially pertaining to video?

Third Party Manufacturers / Third Party 70-200mm

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of building up my collection of lenses and am need of some advice.

I'm look for something in the telephoto zoom range, most likely a 70-200, and I've been looking at the offerings from both Tamron and Sigma. Does anybody have any experiences with either of the lenses? What about the comparison between them and their Canon counterparts?

Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks  :D

Lenses / Prime Lens Focal Lengths
« on: November 09, 2012, 01:58:04 AM »
Hi all,

Long-time reader, first time poster here looking for some advice.

I've recently started and am in the process of building up my kit of lenses, specifically primes. My big question, is there much of a difference between 24mm and 28mm lenses? what about 100mm and 105mm? I've picked out the other focal lengths I'd like to pick up. If anybody has any comparison pictures that would be awesome.

For a bit of context, I do mostly video work, with the occasional bit of still stuff when I'm shooting events. My main body is a 7D, but I'm also looking to jump up to a full frame as well in the near future.

Thanks  :D
