EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5d2 officially discontinued.
« on: December 24, 2012, 08:41:47 AM »
My MkII won't be discontinued for the foreseeable future, thanks in part to my 7D ;) I love the way the MkII and 7D complement each other. In my eye, a choice can be made between either the both of these camera's vs 'only' the 5D mkIII that combines their functionality. I strongly prefer to have two bodies however with different capabilities - always the right tool for the job and the possibility to carry both bodies with different lenses for different focal lengths to save swapping out lenses.

I also have the 7D-5D2 combination and I absolutely love it. 7D for reach and speed, 5D2 for pure quality. It may be discontinued, but it will stay with me for a long time. :)

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Delays [CR2]
« on: May 31, 2012, 09:17:34 AM »
In real life I guess the target group for this camera really don't care too much for an effective delay of couple of months. But still... *If* Canon misses to release the 1DX in time for the olympics then I'd say they have some serious operational problems. Nikon and Sony will hardly wait to exploit this...

Technical Support / Re: Hot / stuck pixels on new 5d II
« on: January 25, 2012, 02:55:41 AM »
Agreed! Send it back! I had to go through two 7Ds before I got a decent one, and it *still* has a couple of hot pixels! But they are only evident on extremely long exposures (or video) so I can live with them.
Nevertheless, it does make you concerned about the Canon quality control...  :(

Lenses / Re: 300mm F4L IS

I love my 300/4 IS! It is compact (relatively that is), light (again relatively) and as sharp as you'll ever need. Easy to carry along in the bag and handhold when taking pictures. Basically that's what counts for me.

If I had the money I would gladly buy the 300/2,8, but I still wouldn't bring it along as I do with the 300/4. This is a really neat lens and great value for money!

Hm... Never heard this rumour and all the major resellers here in Sweden still list this lens as available.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if a new version hits the streets within a year, but I always imagined the 400/5,6 would go first.
