It would be lovely if people read the articles instead of posting beforehand.
I saw this on macrumors, and the article was badly written as it seemed as if he used it for his product images.
But no worries, I shall not judge your actions.

Here's a lovely quote from the Verge article:
"In the studio I shoot with a Phase One digital back with a Sinar X view camera, and Phase One 645 camera system."

The 5D3 is his go-to camera, not the one he uses for Apple's products.
Have a lovely day.

Thank you all for the help so far!
I think getting I'll be getting a Cokin ND kit someday due to the cheaper price compared to Lee's..
How have your experiences been with these?

Landscape / Graduated ND Filters

Sorry for this newbie post in advance!

Should I get graduated nd filters or should I get a regular nd filter first?
I know both have their purposes, but in general, which are better for all-purpose use?

Night shots mean long exposure times, which means you need a solid tripod and head.  Here is something that will be adequate:

Thanks for the fast reply!
I saw this combination previously, but I questioned whether or not I actually needed the tripod in the long term.
I currently have an extremely old, wobbly, >30 year old tripod... Not so great.

Considering that I'm potentially spending around $200 for these, I was wondering if this was any good especially because I travel often...

I have a smooth finish 50mm Sigma f1.4 and it exhibited the focus pattern that Roger at Lens Rentals discusses, in that I could AFMA it to work from about 5-20 feet but either side of that would front/back focus.

I sent it to Sigma USA, they got it back to me in a week with a firmware update and this thing now is spot on at any distance. Good job Sigma! You probably just sold me one of your new 35 and maybe an 85 as a result.

+1.
Nice! I want to get the new 35...
But as of now, my priority is getting a 5dmkii

I was going to buy it due the low cost and because I was only planning to use this for a short time.
I could potentially pass this down to someone else in my family if I feel the need to get a much better tripod.

I'm currently using a T1i and I'm planning on getting a Tamron 28-75...
I also have my kit 18-55 and a 70-200 f/4.
I just need a decent tripod right now for outdoor night photography.. like star trails. c:

I wanted to get a relatively inexpensive tripod like the Dolica Proline, but I just wanted some further advice. c:

Are there any other good tripods for around the same price?
