Business of Photography/Videography / Re: The Pros or The Enthusiasts?
« on: January 29, 2015, 03:14:13 PM »
I consider myself as "enthusiast", not because I want to look or compete with the PRO.

I want the best gear that can provide best IQ @ the price I can afford.

Couldn't  agree more

Lenses / Re: Canon Price Drops on L Lenses

A further update - I have just phoned my local John Lewis branch (Cribbs Causeway by Bristol). Customer services have confirmed that they are completely out of stock of the 70-200 f/2.8L II IS USM but could put an order in for me and the price of the lens, when it arrives, would be £1019. This is apparently now the current John Lewis price for this lens both on the internet and in-store.

This is price of 70=200 2.8 non is

EOS Bodies / Re: DSLR ? - thinking out loud ....
« on: July 17, 2014, 06:19:23 PM »
I'm hoping Canon drops the Eos-M and pulls out of the mirrorless market entirely.  That way, they can focus their R&D activities on improving and enhancing their DSLRs, camera features, sensors and lenses.

I'd have to disagree.  I really like my EOS M, in it's own right, but also as a small/light backup body that integrates with my Canon system.

With a 100-400L attached you have a choice of 3 tripod/monopod mounts

People would like to see RT added to the MT-24 replacement, especially since the MR-14 was just replaced with a second optical version.

Count me among those people.

Yeah me too!

Speaking of which, has there been any talk of a MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite replacement coming soon?

Lenses / Re: buy the 24-70 4 IS... or wait for the 2.8 IS?

It will be a long wait!!!!!

Looks like Canon strategy is f2.8 non IS and  f4 IS  for both 16-35 and 24-70  L series lenses

2.8II is a great lens

Lenses / Re: Lens filters or not?
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:07:31 PM »
A good filter is as much an investment as the lens itself ... I always sell a lens without the filter and keep it for continued use on another lens.

Ditto.  Even when I didn't think I'd need it, as was the case for the 58mm filter I had on the 85/1.8…then I bought an MP-E 65mm.  OTOH, I do have a couple of 77mm UV filters currently unused, since Canon seems to be releasing new versions of lenses with 82mm filter threads instead of the smaller ones of their predecessors.

A good filter will probably save the front element in an accident if no hood fitted
