everybody knows the advantages of an IS system but are there any disadvantages other than size weight and price???

it seems all of canons sharpest lenses have no IS.
is this co-incidence or is it because the addition of an IS system somehow negatively affects image quality??

Sorry to be a buzz kill, but I simply do NOT get these types of questions at all.  Is this an attempt to generate some sort of rambling controversy?

Studio resolution.  What, on a computer screen, zoomed in ten times, is that what you mean?  Or do you mean digital files converted to prints that a customer might hang on a wall?

If it's the later, then it all depends on PRINT size--4x6, 8x10, and so on.  You can only cram so much discernible data onto a given area and, as far as I know--could be wrong here--35mm slide film is about (I'll give a range) 20 to 25 megapixels, so, unless you're addicted to your computer screen, what more do you need?

I would say from the "tone" of your question that you're:
A) obsessed over megapixels, or
B) spend way too much time sitting in front of a computer, or
C) don't do prints under, say, 20x30, or
D) all of the above.





No mate. It's simple. I have a 40d. I need an upgrade. I wanted a d800 but I'm heavily invested in canon glass. What have you got to say now?

How does a leaf shutter system work and what benefits does it have? Also, anybody know where i can find out about the low end medium format market approx 2 to 5 thousand?

I just hope its pretty close to the 1dmk4 if not better.... I shoot alot of concerts, weddings, and sports.... This camera sounds like the holy grail... (to me at least)

useable iso 6400-12800 should be standard.

The 5D MK II is already better at high ISO than the 1D MK IV, so thats a safe bet.  Full frame has a considerable advantage over crop sensors in low light.

How does that work??
5dII max ISO is 6400
1D4 max ISO is 12800

Please explain

Hi, i have a 40d with a 15-85.
i just bought a 50/1.4 and love the increase in contrast... how much better are the L - series for contrast and how good does it get?

also, id like to point out that there are mirror-less and compact imaging products on the market that the 5d2 struggles to out-perform.

Is it only me, but why do people always need an answer for even the weirdest questions? 

No offense, but in this case I doubt that a company like Canon feels the need to react on any release made by Nikon or any other company. Why should they bother? It's not like they weren't developing cams and lenses anyway. Just to respond to any other fresh product on the market? I don't think so, it's all about profit and hopefully having the best product available. 

Besides that I wonder why people always need someone else saying: No, don't get a 5D Mark II now, wait for the 5D Mark III. Now, as the release seems to be around the corner it's a little different situation. But speaking e.g. of rumoured lenses or maybe even lenses which weren't even rumoured, why do people need some sort of confirmation on what to do? It's not like people in here can really pretend the future.

If I would really care about all these postings I wouldn't end up with a camera or lens by 2015 or even at all as I would always be waiting on the next model.
The recommendation I like most in here:
Get your gear you have and go outside and take pictures, improve your skills.
This is so true...

On the other hand it's the canonrumours forum.  I guess this justifies those questions.

heres what i think of 5d2: amazing camera for 2008. now it is desperately outdated.
archaic AF. mediocre IQ and resolution.
d800 is sexy. id switch to nikon but i need better iso performance than the d800 offers.
