Lenses / Re: APS-C 60mm or 100mm macro lens?

You may want to Consider the Tokina 100 f2.8 Macro. It is a super sharp lens. Runs about 380US.

Not quite certain what you are getting at.
The 1DX uses 3 processors (2 x Digic 5+ and 1 Digic 4) as opposed to 2 Digig 6 in the 5DS so I would expect there to be differences.
The quoted burst depth on the 5DS is 14 RAW files, with my 1DX (at 10 fps) I get 50+ RAW files before things slow down - perhaps this is the difference?

The Digic 4 is only used for the focus system, not the transfer of data. From what I read. I could be wrong.

Canon General / Re: dpreview: Canon not listed in "Best product for 2014"

Dilbert,

If you are so against Canon products and all, why do you spent so much time on Canon Rumors? Have you been kicked off Nikon rumors and Sony Rumors? Do you even own a camera... Really? I'm just asking, because you are always on here posting, which means you are never out taking photos.

Anyway, I shoot Canon and have for a a long time. Regardless of all the time you spend on the web searching and posting and complaining.... which seems to be your entire life.... I will continue to shoot Canon and I have yet to have a wedding couple, senior, or family tell me that their photos were bad due to the DR and that I needed to switch to Sony.. Sorry, I meant Nikon...

I make money using the equipment I have and as long as the client is happy, I could care less about what the best product of the year is. So, as a final question.... Why do you care what's on the best product of 2014, since you don't even shoot photography?

Thanks,
Matthew

Yes, I agree... I saw a Dumb play from the 1 yard line, a fight, and lots of white lenses.

So, will this be a Canon Sensor, or are they getting it from someone else? With all the rumors of looking at Med. Format, getting the best sensor, etc... I'm just wondering if they are making this sensor or if it's coming from another company?

Thanks!
Matthew

Landscape / Re: Railway odds and ends...

I don't approve of graffiti, but there are some really talented people tagging out there. Too bad they couldn't exercise their talents without damaging other peoples' property. Still, I'm fascinated by the railway car as canvas.

I agree about some of the talent! I have tons of photos of graffiti and some even go as far as to not cover any of the actual cars info needed to identify the car.

Funny.

Sony is really scaring the bejeezus out of you folks, aren't they!!!

I hear they acquired a few acres in Iowa and plan to grow corn. Pretty scary.

Actually, they have purchased that land to build a Baseball Field...  ;D

Maybe the New EF Lens line will have the Rear lens further in the lens itself for use with a bigger (close to) Medium format sensor? The lens would still work on a FF the way an EF lens works on a APS-C body??

Just my 2 Cents Worth.. Will be interesting!

The way it sounds, I'm guessing they will have a slot in the hood to be able to use your fingers to rotate a ND or Polarizer. That would be nice. I thought about using a dremel and make slots in in my 70-200 hood to allow me to rotate a ND filter, but I thought it might ruin the use of the hood and maybe let light in the slots and cause a reflection.

Hmmm..

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 7Dii vs Nikon D750 Dynamic Range Test
« on: November 01, 2014, 06:26:08 PM »
I still think you need to compare crop sensor to crop sensor. Not crop sensor to full frame. Proves nothing, except that full frame sensors have better DR.

Unless I'm missing your point in all this? Fill me in?

Why are you comparing a Canon 7Dii Crop Sensor to a Nikon D750(sony) Full Frame Sensor?

Atleast they brought the start button back. I've been playing with it for awhile now and it's not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Have not tried installing any photo software on it yet, as it's on a couple work computers, but I plan to try it this weekend to see if it runs and how well it runs.
