I'm another in the "AF performance was a deal breaker" camp. The form factor is very appealing to me but not until the AF is there.

Id love this for shooting weddings from home.

That's the only way I'd shoot weddings. From miles away.

Are there (valid) complaints about the 85 f/1.8? Mine is one of my best lenses I own. I can't imagine improvements and it staying in the same price range/class.

Make the articulated screen extend a little further out (maybe even be detachable) so that it can face forward for your subjects to see. Then, you could display a boring 3,2,1 countdown or have downloadable "funny faces" that can be displayed to make the subjects smile. It might also be usable as a small teleprompter.
