Lenses / Re: Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L Shipping This Week in United States
« on: February 22, 2015, 07:58:46 PM »
I'm just giddy with excitement that I'll soon have a sharp, undistorted, wide lens that has a red ring around the barrel. Was starting to think this day would never come. Now Canon all you need to to do for me is update the 20mm 2.8 and I'll be fine with this f4.

Trade in my 2 1D Mark IV's towards a 1Dx and acquire another 7D Mark II.
Upgrade my 24 1.4 to version II or maybe just the 24 2.8IS, haven't made up my mind yet.
Acquire 16-35 f4 or maybe the 11-24 f4 if it ever shows up.
Still considering the Sigma 150-300 f2.8 Sport but the thought of parting ways with my trusted, tried and true 300 2.8 IS makes me queasy.

Canon, how about updating the 20, 50, 85 and 100mm primes fer cryin' out loud?

Gold service is never usually more than three or four days door to door. Had a lens back in about a week which had New Year's Day in it! I'm seriously considering going to platinum because the FedEx shipping is killing me!

Not trying to throw the discussion off, but HOW is this not patent infringement?

I'm anxiously waiting for a Sigma Art super wide i.e. 15mm 2.8 rectilinear.

In the past they would normally just put the prototype guts into an old body shell but if they don't fit then they need to go to plan b.

A wide zoom that compares in sharpness to the 24-70 and 70-200 version II lenses.

I'm a gold member and my turnaround times are many times faster than guaranteed.
And one time when I had a 1D Mark IIN go in for repair for a third time with the same issue they sent me a Mark III back.
Canon user for LIFE!

This download is clearly labeled as "preview." Which in my mind says it's a little further along than beta.
The full release is set for the end of the month. Can we stop the Canon bashing until it's officially released?

From a RAW. Not real crazy with the skin tones from RAW. JPG's were solid.

I'm having a hard time mustering up any excitement for a 16-35mm f4. I was hoping for the rumored 14-24mm.  :-[

Just give me a sharp, low distortion wide angle. That's all I ask for.

The 100 f2 is underrated? The last one I tested had so much CA in it I could barely make out the image....ok that's slightly exaggerated but it was a LOT!

Lenses / Re: Should I choose the 70-200 2.8 II?
« on: December 18, 2013, 10:35:29 PM »
The EF70-200 2.8L IS II and the EF24-70 2.8L II are the two FINEST zoom lenses EVER MADE. The literally have no equals or competition. They're worth their weight in gold. I can't recommend either of them any higher. I used to love shooting with my fast prime L lenses for their amazing IQ. I literally can't tell you the last time I used any of them.

I LOVE the optical ability of the 24-70 2.8L II but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired.
•The button on the lens hood is malfunctioning and requires that I tape the lens hood to the lens
•One of the rubber grip rings has become stretched and is barely holding on to the lens
•There's a stringy, velvet material that has worked it's way out of the lens barrel now

It's going in tomorrow
