Top left side of the image was burnt, the highlights of the trees in that area were dodged.
The mids were lifted to bring the haze out more. Those are the fairly straightforward observations. In fact the top left is the biggest giveaway. There was probably some composition going on too.
Also a fair bit of levels and curves going on there as well. Doesn't look like any standard filters (like Nik or Alien Skin) were applied though as it's a nice clean image. Too much dynamic range to not of been played with though.

I've had a go on the Fuji mirrorless and it confused the hell out of me. But the size was awesome.
Now if they made a competing camera with the same menus and buttons as the EOS............oh, look, Canon has.

Just a quick question, is it in anyway thinkable that the 1d X could have a firmware to add the silent mode of the 5d3?
The mode implemented in the 1d X really is a joke....
There is no silent mode on the 1DX...but i would be nice if Canon made a firmware with it in as I use the 5D3 for my ceremony shots.
It's certainly possible, just as how it was possibly to increase the Raw capture rate of the 7D and do whatever they are doing with video on the 5D3.
The features are always there (within reason), they just need to be unlocked.

I'm sure there was a very good reason for lack of 2nd curtain sync. I doubt it's something they overlooked.
Honestly though, we have wireless flashes. Good ones too (I have six 600EX-RT's) so I think you're nit picking in an extreme way...good to comment but write an open letter to Canon...c'mon?

Well, what it 'could' be is this.
You can set the 1DX to move the AF point relative to the way it is held. Combine that with the fact that you can set the metering to the focus point (or not) then maybe these setting need investigating.
An easy way to test this would be reset the camera setting completely, or, point it at a white wall - filling the viewfinder, rotating the camera to see if the same thing happens. If it doesn't your settings are causing it.

The body count is fine, as long as the 7D is used as a decoy back at the base only to be used if the other two bodies are taken out.
A 300 2.8 with Tele is going to suck. You might as well take the 100-400L, lighter, more versatile. It's not like these places lack sunlight.
I'd try to trade the 1DS for a 5D3 just to reduce the weight, but that's me. I'd also change the 70-200 for an F4 version.
Make those changes and you've saved 4-5 kilos.

Sounds like Safety shift.
You've put the camera in a position where it cannot take the shot within it's limits set by you.
You can get around this easily by selection Auto Iso on the camera...much better chance that the safety shift won't cut in that way. You can disable it though.
In a way it's a good thing, when you pull up the files n Lightroom you can see the setting it used and you can ask why they ended up being what they were.
You've put the camera in a position where it cannot take the shot within it's limits set by you.

400 seconds. It's amp glow. There's so little of it and no hot pxels that it shows just how good that new 5D3 sensor is.

You of course, understand cameras can have Live view without video? The 1Ds3 and 40D as an example.
