Without IS, this becomes a very expensive, really sharp, general purpose lens - but not a low-light lens.

Am I missing something?

The V2 has "Inner-focusing with USM" similar to the 70-200 f2.8 IS.  I guess that's what makes it more expensive.

I never studied photography other than the WPPI and some photography forums here and there.  I went from shooting free to about $1500 a wedding in three years and I've done close to 100 weddings and 50 engagements so far.  The advantage, if you can call it, is that when I first started out, I have all the Canon L lenses and FF bodies and I know how to use them.  And then I know how to use LR and PS.  I paid for all those from with my day job salaries.  I think wedding photo is about 40% equipment and the knowledge to use them, 40% PS skills and 20% the rest.  I won't quite my day job to study photography, to answer your question.  But everyone progresses at the own pace and with their own method.

Where did you hear that?  I've only seen rumors sent in by those who have zero information, but make up rumors for entertainment.  If you depend on them for purchase information, you may be waiting another 5 or 10 years.

The 16-35 drop another $50 so I'm gonna jump on it at $1390.  It's almost the same as CL used prices.  You are right, even if the 14-24 does come out, it's gonna be more expensive than the 16-35.

I was looking to buy the 16-35 f2.8 II which is at a good price with the rebate now.  But I also heard that the 14-24 is coming out so I'm rethinking about it.

Buying the 5D2+24-105 makes sense.  You can get $900 at least for a brand new 24-105.  Anyone knows where to pick up a 5D2 grip on the cheap?

Got it at Futureshop for $2K with 4 year service plan included. I know the service plan is not worth the paper it is written on but they won't budge on the price so I just took it.
