I own a 7D, and just sold a 5DII. The 5DII blew the 7D away in IQ in my opinion. Going to a full frame body will make your 50 a bit wider than on your cropped body. It is tough to say, because both are a big step up in IQ (an L lens or a 5DII). Most will tell you to go with lenses, as they are a long term investment, but i think once you try a full frame body (the 5DII is an awesome camera and is priced right now that the 5DIII is out) you will love it. I'm going to go against the lens idea and recommend the 5DII to you. Get a good lens when you build up cash again and you will be amazed all over again, as an L lens on that body gives amazing IQ.

You didn't post what lens you will be using on the 5DII. Will you keep the 50 1.4 and have that as your only lens?

Yes, 50 1.4 will be the only one,
+ I will have money enough for someting like 35 f/2

Hello everyone,

Right now I have 50d + kit 18-55 (useless thing) + 50 1.4.
I've got two ways now:

1. Sell 50d + kit and buy 5d mark ii
2. Or to buy 35L or 24L or 50L (they almost the same budget) for my 50d

I'm confused, what is better way to go, good lens and crop or not so good lens and full frame?

I've used it on my 50d.
It allowed me to shoot 1080p video,
there were no problems with my camera at all,

but I erased it just to be sure that I won't get any problems when I'm shooting weddings or something important.

I'd recommend you to buy 60d and good L lenses,
as for me optics mean much more, you will be completely satisfied with your 60d and great lenses.
Than you will earn some money with it, and after that go to FF.

As for me,
I had just bought 135 L for my 50d, and it's awesome in all factors, IQ is great, and my crop now feels really different, so I think it will be enough for you to have 60d + L's.

In conclusion: as for me optics means more than body at first.

I don't know about your budget, but since you already own that nice 135L and you seem not so happy with your 18-55, why don't you add some L primes? Perhaps a 24L or 35L might be a good choice.

If I were you I would hold back buying a standard zoom like the 24-105 until you buy it in a bundle with a 5D Mark III.

Thanks, I've read a lot about this one, really sharp images, great IQ,

but I don't think that I want to buy a lens for crop sensor only, because I want to buy FF in future.

but also this may be great lens to earn more money for something else and than sold it. This is hard choice.

Lenses / Looking for advice.

Hello all!

I've got a 50d, 18-55 IS, 55-250 IS(currently selling this one because it's is really useless, too dark), 50 1.8 II, 135 2.0 L .
I'm shooting all starting from ants to weddings.
So the question is, what should I buy next?
The problem is that my 50 1.8 is kinda old and I got 7-8 out of 10 misfocused even at 5.6 or so(it's almost completely useless), and the 18-55 doesn't provide great results too.
I was thinking about EF 50 1.4(to replace my 50 1.8 ) or maybe EF 28 1.8, or maybe you can advice me something better?

Budget: less than 1000$.

- middle of May
- I can work 40+ hours per week (any time)
- it's not the highest priority for me. I wanna improve my English and become more familiar with american culture and find some new friends.

You will probably get a better response if you give some additional details, such as:
- city or area you will be or would like to be based in
- expected arrival date
- number of hours available e.g. part-time or full-time, during week only or nights & weekends etc.
- desired compensation
- etc.
