I have the version 2, and if you really dont want to worry about much when shooting, guess it's the version you should get. I burrowed a mark3(cause i only have a mk2) with the version2 and it was just a breeze to use :)

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark II with my 3 lenses question
« on: July 02, 2012, 03:01:41 AM »
Regarding the question on the 17-40, well for me it's a bit to short of reach for general purpose shooting. you might want a 24-105(24-70 is heavy for general purpose IMO) and it's with IS. :)

When i switched from crop to FF, it took time for me to adjust because of the difference in FL. I'm in FF more or less 2 months and adjusted already.

Lenses / Re: ND Filter system for landscape photography question
« on: June 18, 2012, 01:13:45 PM »
Thanks guys, this is somthing i've been pondering over for a while, and you have provided some useful input...

Though, and please forgive if i'm sounding like a newbe, can't you use multiple exposures and photoshop to simulate a grad ND filter? Thats what i do anyway... Surely that is one of the advantages of digital photography...  take one shot then stop it down as much as you want for a second, then blend in pp? just me 2 pence! :)

That being said i do want a "big stopper" for those water scences where i just cant slow down the shutter enough! :D

ND grads i think are bought because it helps you reduce workflow, and personally I'd wanna see the output myself then and there. :D

I'm using a .9,.6 SE Lee NDG 100mm filters, they're pretty good, but i dont have the money to buy the holder atm. It's easier to hand hold than the 85mm filters on wide angles. I've also used Hitech ones and they're pretty good too :) For ND's and CPL i use Screw in filters.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Manfrotto tripod
« on: June 12, 2012, 03:21:34 PM »
What did you expect when you bought a plastic-ish tripod? It's only made for lightweight gear. So tell us, what were you using on it? i have a 055xprob and the quality is excellent. A friend of mine has a really old manfrotto, and it still works perfectly.

If you want a good tripod, it comes with a price. What did you expect out of a plastic-ish tripod?

There is a very big difference when you switch to a FF. Just bought a mk2 2 months go(i couldnt afford the mark3) and i'm very happy with it. Just sell your EF-S lenses if you have some.

Software & Accessories / Re: Benro B0 or B1 ball head?
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:22:36 PM »
I had a B0 Ballhead for my Benro before (i switched to manfro). It's a good starting ballhead, but if you really want a ballhead that could handle heavy setups i think you should look for other ones. I tried a 7D+70-200 II when i still had it, and it was fine, but a little shaky.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: The 5D Mark III Fix
« on: May 02, 2012, 01:10:14 PM »
Can the tape adhesive withstand increasing temperatures, both internally and externally?  I'm just worried about the tape coming off (short term/long term), and then having to pay another $100CAD to courier my 5D3 body back to Canon Canada every time the tape comes off.  Is this solution long-lasting enough for owners who plan to keep using their 5D3 bodies 5-10 years from now?

+1 this is more detailed than my question

Just wondering, wouldn't this have a problem in the long run?

Lenses / Re: L lens vs Full Frame
« on: May 02, 2012, 12:48:55 PM »
Hi there! Just to share my thoughts:

I had a 500D a few years back(About 2009?), Went through a 7D(My sister's) and just bought a 5d2. On the time i was with a crop, i only had Non L Lenses to work with, 18-55,55-250, and a 50, then upgraded to a 70-200L II, then had the 7D. I was deciding on this also because i think that the 7D really suited the part of me that wanted to get fast action. But my heart still was on landscaping.

So i bought a 5d2 + a 17-40L( So now i have a 5D2, 17-40L, 50 1.8, and a 70-200L II, and a 7D that i can burrow anytime.) As a Amateur switching from crop to FF, I was shocked out of the very first snap i took out of the 5d2 with a 50mm 1.8, and i was at a loss for words. After that I've only been shooting with my 50 and 17-40 for landscapes. My 70-200 was ignored for a while. I love the 50 on the 5D. I've learned to love the nifty fifty more now than when i had a crop body. I haven't tried a 50 1.4 (But im very excited to, alot of people are defending it), but the 50 1.8 is just splendid.

Just experience from an amateur :) hope i helped. Good luck on your purchase!

Lenses / Re: Why buy Canon when third party are this good?
« on: April 28, 2012, 08:05:15 PM »
We'll really just have to wait for really good reviews. So far i'm more interested in this lens than the 24-70L I of Canon. Resale Value? I dont really care about that, if i'm going to be really happy with this lens if i ever get it, why would i sell it? Just my thoughts.  :)

Lenses / Re: 70-200/70-300
« on: April 28, 2012, 07:51:39 PM »
I have tried the 70-200 F4 IS USM and it's a very good, lightweight lens. I have yet to try the 70-300 L, and the reviews really make me want to try it. You can't go wrong with either lens. Something to consider when you buy is the focal length and aperture, is 200 f4 good enough for you or do you need a 300 5.6?

Also shooting in low light, where the f4 would have a small advantage.

I can't think of anything else, i hope this helps.  ;D
