Hey all,

Anyone know about HHS compatibility with the PW Flex/Mini setup? I would think it would be close to, or the same as, the Odins...

Hey all,

How about a mix? ST-E3 for use with your current, and possible future 600's, and 622's to use if you decide to purchase flashes that don't operate on the Canon radio system. Put the 622 trigger in the camera's hot shoes with the ST-E3 on top of that. Start with the 622's to start less expensively, the add as the funds allow.

I would not advice to stack, as the more contacts and the less reliability you can expect. I would use the yn622, or a second 600 on top of the camera.

Hey all,

A lot of quality triggers (transmitters) have a hot shoe on top of the transmitter specifically to add a flash on top of the camera so it can be used as an optical trigger, or direct or fill flash. It seems to me that reducing the weight by adding only an ST-E3 vs a top mounted flash seems reasonable... granted, not optimal, but perfectly feasible.

Hey all,

This is good news because the PW can be controlled by my wife's 70D. That being said, I am sticking with the PW vs going to the 600EX-RT and ST-E3 combo since I couldn't get full functionality out of my pre-2012 7D. I am very happy with the performance of my TT1/AC3/TT5 combo and it will take an incredible system, or something drastic for me to change gear!

Hey all,

I wasn't saying flash zoom had something to do with exposure, just the adjustment to fill the modifier used to it's edges. One softbox may require a flash zoom of 24mm, another one 28mm or 35mm, maybe, depending on the size and shape of the modifier.

Hey all,

Ok, I might be over simplifying this in my head, so please correct me if my line of thinking is off here....

Since the flash head zoom correlates to the focal length of the lens, at least in TTL, to find the appropriate flash zoom to fill a modifier, place your lens where the flash head would be in the modifier, if possible i.e. umbrella or mounted on the back of a softbox, and use the FL needed to just see the outer edges of the modifier. Then, the ISO and flash power settings would be adjusted for achieving the desired exposure. That way, the flash zoom for a particular modifier would be a consistent value. Again, let me know if this line of thinking is off the mark.

A fat Li-on battery like the Ving 850 would make sense.

Hey all,

That is one thing I like about the Godox flashes. (V850/V860)  For the price, the battery life, and full amount of features (except the old style lock wheel :-(  ), I think this should be the next build model for flashes. Options? Manual vs TTL and built in radio or not. I think Canon could sell a decent amount of manual only flashes with HSS and rear curtain sync.

Hey all,

Spend about an extra $200-300 and get the Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC AND the 70-200 2.8 VC. I have the 70-200 and it is an awesome lens!

Hey all,

I came across this flash and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. The price seems fairly attractive. Thanks in advance!!

Hey all,

Thanks for the info! I was planning on using it as a fill/hair light. The voltage did concern me, but now i feel a little better! Thanks again!!

Hey all,

I guess the flash is the wrong type of TTL... A-TTL from film days, not really compatible with digital.  :-(  Oh, well, won't be using that one.

Hey all,

I was wondering.... I have an old Canon 300EZ flash and the PocketWizard FlexTT5/MiniTT1 triggers. Would it be safe to use the old flash with the PW's? Is there a voltage issue that I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance for any advice and help!!
