I hope they unlock new video features. I'm sticking with my 5Dii for video right now, but if they added clean HDMI 8-bit 4:2:2 out, zebras, and focus peaking, I'd upgrade for that.
I'd upgrade ESPECIALLY if they unlock more video resolution from the sensor and processor.
I will get one as well. I sold my 24-70 V1 when the rumors started flying about the MK2. Now I've just been using my 24-105 waiting patiently for the new 24-70!
I would suggest that any macro lens will be fine. Its lighting that will make you want to pull your hair out, so put your effort into the lighting.+100
Lighting jewelry is extremely difficult, so read up on that.
If Canon have got something new in terms of autofocus technology then that could generate rather more interest.I believe that if Canon DID have something new in AF (I'm talking about video), we would have seen it implemented on the G1X.
What I'd like to see in all new Canons is focus peaking in live view. Canon do you hear me? Just copy Sony!
I'm have been in the same delema betweend the 24/35. I have the 14L, 50L & 85L. I know most say that the 24L would complement best however I too am swaying towards the 35L because I mainly shoot people. I think the 35 is a better people lens and 24 better landscape for most instances.
I''ll be happy with manual audio controls, also if we could get digital zoom like my rebel but with more increments that would be amazing. I could care less about photography updates unless if they're fixes for something that should be there. Any video fix however will only be holding me in the Canon camp temporarly unless if they finally satisfy the 3000-8000 dollar range with a camera similar to the 5D Mark III with a simple uncompressed output (or even better an SDI port) and a single XLR port or allow XLR to be added.
Hopefully we can expect a Mac Pro refresh to take advantage of these new features. I wouldn't want to work with 4K REDCODE RAW files on an iMac.
Don't put them in your camera without testing them first. If there is a short, it could damage your camera. Stick them in a CHEAP card reader and format them, copy data on and off of them. Repeat. Give them a complete testing before trusting them.
for video....if you're on a budget, I don't think you should be looking at the best lenses from Canon. You could wait for the new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 IS, should be released very soon ($900-1000?), seems like a good all around lens.
I think the lack of image stabilization in fast top Canon lenses makes them too expensive for videographers. If you're going to spend a lot in a lens for video, it should have IS.
I'd get something similar to this set, there are other options but most have slower apertures.
Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 IS
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Canon 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4
I think this should cover most of your shots, maybe get a telephoto later.
