Please don't be confused, Adobe is, I believe, a publicly traded company...and as such they are only answerable to the shareholders for providing them profit.<P>
The customers are just a necessity to do this, but the customer is not their primary concern or obligation.

Once I got this concept down, I can easily understand what corporations are trying to do, maximize shareholder profits, nothing more.

It isn't personal, it is purely business....the only way the consumer can fight back, is with the pocketbook.

And more to this point the VALUE of the stock today matters MORE then the dividends. In the old days people bought the stocks looking at the Dividends and the monthly income 1st and then the increase in stock value. In todays world that has flipped. Moving a company to a reoccurring revenue can and will drive huge increase in stock value even if the total revenue stays the same. To that end revenue can in fact decrease some and the stock value can stay the same or even increase.

I HATE cloud and the concept.  I like to travel and spend time in many places when I do with NO internet access. It may be easy in the US but places like Ho Chi Minh City, Porto Sugro brazil and the likes I have had no access for days on end. I just hope that apple does not abandon Aperture and stops making version worse So that I can stay with it.

For travel my 7D almost never comes out of my bag. My 5D MkII gets all of that work. I would go with a used or refurbished 5D MkII or a 6D I got about 80% of my great used off of GL I just took my 17 inch laptop with me. Took a couple of sample shoots and checked them.

I have travel from the US to Germany, Portugal, Brazil, England, France, Italy, Austria and Vietnam and have not been questioned to date. Last trip had over 30 lbs of gear in a LowPro including a 7D, 5DII and a Xt for the kids to use. 7 lenses (a couple of big white L series) and a flash non of it looks brand new but to date they have never ever looked at my camera bags

Its big and heavy but I just cannot get away from my 28-300 dust pump L series. My 2nd choice is probably my 70-200 F2.8 IS II. Not sure how many years more I will be able to keep packing them around. I went to Vietnam last summer and left the 28-300 at home and regretted it the whole time. Next time the 100-400 stays at home

I think extra RAM is unlikely to make an enormous difference.  Either way the files are far larger than your available RAM.  Faster, defragmented hard drives (with plenty of available space) and faster video cards are more likely to make a bigger difference, I think.

It is a Apple and does not have a FAT 32 file system so you do not de-frag it.

Yes taking it to 16 GIG of ram will help a LOT (Been there done that) Beyond that apple started encrypting the files when it swapped (the unix term) or was using virtual memory (the windows term) this was done because a security expert said or showed that doing a Dump of the swap "Could reveil or show passwords that had been typed. THe truth is though that this file (swap or Virt memory file) is owned by ROOT and can only be dumped with root access and if someone has root access you are owned anyways. Encrypting Swap is kind of like locking the barn after the horses got out IMHO You can search find how to turn encrypted virtual memory of or disable it. You will see a gain doing that also. Yes I know that I am going to be flamed for the security risk but as I said if someone has root you to dump virtual memory you are owned anyways. Increasing my 09 iMac to 16 gig (its max) and disabling encrypted virtual memory has made my performance a LOT more acceptable. My file coming from a 7D and a 5D MK II are 22 to 30 Megs Raw. I tend to have 5 to 8 open windows and 20 to 30 tabs open in my web browser. Hope that this helps

« on: February 28, 2013, 09:14:45 PM »

actualy..... your microwave oven is a lot less power than what is fed into a cell-phone node...

I do not know how you came up with this but it just is not true. Most Cell transmitters are 70 watts. at 800 Megs or 1.9 gig Microwaves are 800 to 1200 watts and highly focussed at 2.4 gig. (same as your wifi, Blue tooth and many other things) I made my living through most of the 90s climbing cell and other two way towers.

To the OP's question there is no way to answer your questions without knowing a lot of info that you do not have a way to provided us. It may be a bad place to be and it may be OK it just depends on a LOT of things. The chances of it doing something that would kill your camera is very low.

I too love this lens and find that it sits in my bag and then when I get it out I wonder why I haven't used it more but then I have to say that about all of the lenses in my bag or at least all of the canon lenses. I guess that really I just need to shoot a lot more

Canon 16-35 F2.8 L
Canon 28-70 F2.8 L IS
Canon 70-200 F2.8 L IS II

and a 2X teleconverter
I am planing and this in fact becoming my travel bag with a 5D and 7D body along with my 15mm 2.8 fisheye and I cannot figure out why canon stopped making the fish eye

Most of the time I do not post to threads like this but this time I have to ask if anybody was paying attention. Last Jan the Borad of Directors replaced the CEO of Canon. There was a feeling that things where not going the right way and the past CEO who was the Chairman of the Board took back control so the OP may not be that far off. In bringing a 76 year old back the made a open statement that they had not fostered younger upcoming Sr. Managers and that they needed to adress this.

As to the 6D for the last how many years Canon has used the XD to mean PRO cameras. XXD for the cross over and Rebel in the us and XXXD for the rest of the world for entry level consumer camera.

Is there any one out there that feels the 6D is a PRO camera?? It is in the pro numbering sceme and has a entry level pro price but just is not a pro camera.

Last if the Mk 3 was doing that well there would not be a special with it 750 just 6 months after it being released and the D800 would not be out selling it and folks the D800 is out selling it. Also if a newbie comes into the local shops all 3 of the ones that I have been here have switched to pushing the Nikons and that is a BIG change in from 2 years ago. If you look around this forum you will see I think it was on the Mk 3 Adroma thread that they showed the sales numbers and how this might be part of why the price drop.

Anyways the staff at ever camera shop that I have been in for the last 4 months as felt that Canon is not going the right direction and is selling based on that and there is no way that can be good for Canon.

Ricku, I took the time to go through your entire album and have to say that you have a great eye (not to mention a great natural model also) O and I like the look of the Contact lenses BTW also.

As too this lens I have to say that I just love it. Sharp clear and great color. You can take great family shoots with it or use it to do public portrait work at the beach. Case in point here are a few candid's that I took of my Sis in Law to be with her son at the Beach while I was there meeting the family in Vietnam.

Canon cameras do not write to a USB Hard drive thru their USB port, if thats what you were asking about.  The 1D X has a network port, so if you have a self powered drive with a network connection, that would work.

That is what I was thinking. Well they transfer to a external drive or does it have to have a computer?

I was wondering if any one has used a Kingston Wi-Drive. I have not grabbed the manuel but I seem to remember that there was a way to write to a external drive through the USB on the EOS D bodies. Was thinking that if that is so I could kill 2 birds with one stone. Be writing to the usb drive I would have 2 copies of the pics and be able to view them as the where being taken on my iPad or laptop thus not needing any of the wireless extras for the camera. PLUS I get to expand the storage on my iPad.

Thoughts anyone???

I have only shoot my 7D in low light once and it was VERY LOW light trying to shoot a night water polo match at a HS that did not have many lights. Shooting full day light with nothing but L series lenses I have been very happy with my 7D. In the very first playing with it when I got it I found that it did not look good with anything but my L series lenses. I kind of expected that do to the pixel density. The lower cost lenses just do not resolve well with the many Pixels in the little size.

Anyways here comes the smites I guess as I am again saying that I am happy with both camera as long as I use good glass
