my D600 shows two little dust spots, which isn't nearly enough to get me excited.

I propably will also buy a 6D though, as soon as it's tested and all of it's possible hiccups have been worked out, just to get access to the sweet L glass, mainly 50mm 1.2L and 70-200 2.8L.

Great news that the wait isn't much longer! Also hoping for 13+ stops of dynamic range! (too optimistic?) And good center spot af performance.

If I did mostly landscapes and macros, i wouldn't go with FF. Also, I think the 10-22 is sharper than 17-40, although not sure. But with smaller sensors you can use bigger apertures and still get a lot of depth of field, which is what matters in landscape. Slow shutter speed, using tripod and low isos, there isn't a dramatic difference in picture. I'd buy full frame for shallow dof images and better high iso performance.

I bought a nikon D600 last week and so far i just love it! I mean, sure the control layout is way different from my old 5D mark II that i sold, and it's definitely not how I would have designed it. I really miss the big control wheel on the back. BUT, once you get a little familiar with it, it really isn't a dealbreaker at all. I shot my friends kids birthday party the day before yesterday (with the nikkor 28mm 1.8G lens), and I already felt comfortable with the D600. I am loving everything that comes out of that camera! (although auto white balance gets it wrong sometimes in tricky lighting, but so did my 5dII. And I haven't tried all the AWB functions yet.)

Anyway, I still am coming back to canon once I have enough money (and when canon starts making good sensors) for a good canon camera and all the L lenses I desire. I then plan on shooting both.

85 1.2 L II

That would get me through life. Oh, i'd also need a Canon camera, since I sold mine and ordered a nikon d600 with nikkor 28 1.8G, 50 1.8G (yeah i know, could've gone with the 50 1.4G. Didn't) and 85 1.8G.

I would buy the 135L over the 85 1.8 any day of the week, sharpness has very little to do with this. Fantastic bokeh (to me) much more so. I would guess the 135L does other things far better also, like control of flare, chromatic aberrations etc.

Correct me if i am wrong, but canon lenses do not have microprocessors, therefore they don't have firmware, only the camera itself does. Ergo, there is no updating the lens firmware.

The shorty forty update will also just be an update for the camera firmware, and how to update that has already been described on this thread.

First of all, great video, loved watching it. Sharpness issue to me seems to be due to pixel amount on the video being much lower than 1920x1080, or even 720p. looked like 480p, possibly 360p.

When i had that lens it behaved like you described. Shot with IS off, it's silent as death.

they probably designed the sensor from the bottom up a few times, judging from how long it took them to finally get it released all that pressure from listening to all the complains about 5d mark III sensor...

There is barely any noise at ISO400 on digital and already tons with film.

Maybe SOOC there isn't, but if you do anything to the image in post processing, at least with my 5D2, ugly banding and lot of shadow noise come to table. In film there is grain, yes, but it isn't ugly. (depending of course what film you use)

I think digital is fine shot at lower iso. At iso 400 and up, I prefer film, because digital noise, more often than film grain, is UGLY. That said, I would never only shoot film, because of all the hassle and cost.

I only have experience shooting 35mm film.

I think it wouldn't make sense to make 7dmk2 a FF camera. Keep the 7Dmk2 a very high class aps-c (above the xxD series), give us a 6D to be the entry-level FF, give us the 3D for studio/portrait/landscape with high DR and IQ. Now that I would buy!

got my lens + focusing screen yesterday. Thoughts: Lens hood is flimsy and the mount isn't as tight as with canon lenses. The lens front cap is also a bit of a pain. Lens itself is well built and the manual focus ring a pleasure to use. The focus screen was very easy to install, even though i had never done it before, and focusing with it is easy at f/1.4. Lens makes absolutely beautiful images.

I have one question now: when stopping down to f/22, i can see a white dot a little up-left from the center AF point in my viewfinder. Is this normal, or do i have a defect somewhere? same thing with both this lens and my canon 50mm 1.4.
