EOS M on a 500mm F4 with a 1.4 extndr

EOS-M / Re: EOS M Owners Post Your Pictures

I have had the M since it 1st came out.  I carry mostly backpacking.  I finally got around to ordering the 11-22 lens (had to order from Canada, funny, interesting thing was it came with a Canada/USA warranty).

The attached is at the 11mm end with a polarizer.  No post processing was done, other than converting from RAW to JPG.

I am happy with the M, but would not suggest it for action shots.

Can someone explain what "Dual Pixel AF system " gets you, if your not shooting video?  Keep it simple. :o

Lenses / What's the Difference: 1.4X EF Extender 2 Vs. 3

Can anyone tell me what changed on the version 3 (versis version 2) for the Canon Extenders?

Is there some advantage to shooting the 3 Vs the 2?

Software & Accessories / Re: Gimbal heads - Benro or Wimberley?

If you already have a Ballhead that you like, you might consider the Wimberly Sidekick.

I use the Sidekick with my RRS BH-55 LR(Full-sized ballhead with LR) for my 500/F4.

The attached picture shows the set-up.  I was playing around with an EOS-M behind a 500mm w/ a 2X extender.

Software & Accessories / Lightroom Help?
« on: June 28, 2013, 11:17:15 AM »
Any suggestions for a book on Lightroom (5)?  I have been using PS Elements for several years.  Got talked into getting Lightroom, supposely to shorten my work flow.

I have to admit, when I open up Lightroom I am lost.

Any suggestions on an instructional manual for learning Lightroom?

I all you want to carry is the EOS M & the 22mm lens, then the LOWPRO Dashponit 20 works nicely.

I have been using Photoshop Elements for years.  I pretty much only soot in Canon Raw.

My Question is: Does Lightroom get me something that Elements doesn't?  If so what?

Lenses / 100mm f/2.8L with a diopter?
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:10:46 PM »
Is there a down side to putting a +4 diopter on the front of a 100mm f/2.8L, to cut down on the minimum focal distance?   ???

Lenses / Re: 70-200 for trip to Vegas and Grand Canyon
« on: March 22, 2013, 03:15:20 PM »
I did a 10 day river trip through the Grand Canyon a few years ago and really didn't have the room for a 70-200 mm.  I only had my 24-105mm on my 5D Mk2..  There were times (not on the river) I wished I had the 70-200 or larger for wildlife.

If you have the room then take the lens.  If your backpacking, I would likely leave the lens home.

Lenses / Re: Which 15mm f2.8?
« on: January 30, 2013, 04:24:36 PM »
Rectilinear is what I am looking for.

I like the Idea of the Zeiss, but really can't justify the expense.  If I could justify the expense, I guess I would als look at the Canon 14 mm f2.8

Looks like the Sigma is the current choise.  I have read a lot of good reviews (the only down side is the slower focusing compared to Canon lens).
