Speedlites, Printers, Accessories / Re: Lexar CF cards FAIL - Sandisk?
« on: October 19, 2014, 02:57:08 PM »
"Premium"- cards like Sandisk or Lexar seem to be a little bit more reliable then cheaper ones like Transcend.
Although: I had issues with a Transcend 16gb 600x, a Sandisk 16gb 30mb/s and a Sony 16gb 94/s SD.

The first both were only getting noticable slower; the Sony didn't work- in the Sony RX 100.

Check the card with h2tw, for example. A real bad one should be identified.

Oh- I have Lexar CF and SD- everythings fine.

Samsung Galaxy Note, v1.
Although not using it regularly: if there is enough light, the result surprised me positive.
Don't happen very often, because I always carry my RX100 with me.

Syl Arenas book: good one.
Online: the strobist.com- starting with less then $ 100, many examples explained.
For understanding: Light, science and magic from.... dont remember, amazon or google should know.
Joe McNallys Hotshoe Diaries, Nikonista, but usable for every brand.

Good luck!!

I am sure, the 1Gx series is not bad.
But there are strong competitors with unique features out there.
The Fuji X100, s, t
The Sonys RX100, the Mk3 with an EVF
The Lumix LX 100- 4k video.

The 1 5 7 60 70 are fine as a system with their lenses, flashes etc.
But a compact.......no.

Software & Accessories / Re: Bag suggestions

Check out the ThinkTank Streetwalker HD, or the bags from Gura Gear.
The 500 is a piece of glass- maybe this with body on it in an extra bag?

Using the YN E3 RT with FW 1.10, Fuji X100s:
Works flawless in manual mode; change power settings I have to send by pushing the test button.

In my experience (I have both triggers- Canon and Yongnuo): no difference in reliability; every 100th shot or so a misfire.

Software & Accessories / Re: Corrupt RAW Files from Mac ( used DPP )

I recently had problems with my files.
It was a defect HDD.
so if your friend(s) copied them there and then to the SD- maybe this was the reason.

It would be helpful (like Spokane said) to ask if they can open them on their system.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: How's the RX-100 Miii? Should I?
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:47:52 AM »
Had a RX100, now the RX100 III:
If you have the money and want the best camera this size I highly recommend it.

The EVF is small but very useful at sunlight, the lens is much more useful at both ends- I always wanted a 24mm, and now, at the long end, the drop in f- stops is less dramatic.

(The Canon 1" has no viewfinder, coming a bit late. Yes, cheaper.)

As mentioned before: achiving top quality aerial pictures it is necessary to get every glass or plastic out of the optical way.
Maybe you find a plane with a window to open, an ultralight with open doors or a gyrocopter.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Why haven't you left canon?

Better glass, AI Servo, size (bigger is better for handling, not for the transport.
Flash system.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Invested In 3 Different Systems
« on: September 26, 2014, 02:38:09 AM »
I am glad to read hiw many of you/us have more then one system.
The Fuji Xs are very tempting for trips- I already have the X100s- and I see this little piece of joy as a "standalone".
Like the Sony RX100 III......
And I use and love them all!

@Canon going MF and the past:

Maybe one day we have a toolkit: this body, this back.
Rolleiflex had this changeable magazinsystem for 35mm- was a lovely camera.

Yes I know, sometimes i am dreaming with open eyes......
