Lenses / Re: Long Range L Choices

I've used the 100-400 a few times and I love it, if you aren't a fan of the push/pull zoom type then obviously it's not for you.

But it's a great lens, snappy focusing and the build is ridiculously good.  I actually thought it was pretty compact as well which is a plus for me.  It wasn't too heavy to do some hand held shooting for extended periods.

How do you like the rokinon? I've been thinking about getting something like that.

It's built like a tank, I'll tell you that.

I personally love all of their lenses because I shoot a lot of video and the manual focus is extremely smooth.  Plus the manual aperture ring is the only reasonable way to adjust exposure while filming (Like going from inside to outside.)

So pros:
Build
Great optics, really sharp and handles CA fairly well
Focus ring is smooth and weighted perfectly
Metal mount

Cons:
Aperture ring darkens viewfinder as you get a smaller aperture, not too big a deal
All manual, ideal for video but you can use it for stills just like a regular MF lens but I grew up in the age of autofocus haha

I don't know if a mucelago could run you over I think it would scoop you up and barrel roll you over top of it!! I will bring my 50D and 17-55 2.8 more than likely, or my little 17-85 if i wanna go light. What about you, what are you shooting cars with?

A 60D, with either a 55-250 or a Rokinon 35mm F/1.4

Haha that's awesome, I can't wait. June was the first time I went in 4 years ever since they moved it from the caribou coffee off shady oak road. It's gotten way way bigger!

It's huge!  I almost got run over by a Yellow Murcielago last month haha.

What body/lens will you be shooting with?  (If you are bringing a camera)

I have the 8mm and it does this also, it isn't the lens, I'm pretty sure it's the focusing screen or some other element above the mirror.

I have a terrible tripod and a kit lens but I try my best!

Actual write speed may vary it's not always what it says on the card unfortunately.
With a camera body that supports magic lantern, you can fine-tune (raise or lower) the bitrate = write speed so that it maxes out the card's potential.

that is exactly what I do, I usually drop it a little bit if I'm having issues.

It's the card's write speed.  I've got a class 10 that does that once in awhile and another class 10 UHS 1 that I've never had an issue with.  Actual write speed may vary it's not always what it says on the card unfortunately.

I have the app and ordered my Dongle + CL-E3 connector like an hour ago!!

It looks fantastic and so far from just playing with it, it looks amazing.  It has so many features I love the distance time lapse feature I will for sure be using that a lot!
