EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 5D Mark III Replacement Talk [CR2]

This looks like an excellent decision by Canon and if you don't want to shoot the full 50mp+ you can always use
MRaw (36mp ?) and Sraw (12mp ?) and the fps may be around the 4-5mp which will be good.

Be good if they could do an electronic Anti-Alias option that you could turn on and off on the camera and hopefully the MK 4 will come with 4K Video which is coming more and more common.

One thing is for sure we will need to look at our PC / Mac computer systems to possibly update them, e.g., larger hard disks, etc.

Firmware sounds like it has improved things in AF for Video and stills which is good and good news that the next generation models to have the technology of Dual Cmos AF from the 700D which will elevate it to fingers cross one of the best AF in terms of speed; lock on in the target; % of keeps in the Mirrorless market

Hopefully Canon will introduce models like that like to that of the Sony equivalents; Nex-5, Nex-6 and hopefully Aps and FF Nex-7 (using the excellent 6D/ 5D Sensor) - possibly doing a VG100 Camcorder line 2 and hopefully price is competitive and not over the top.

The AF systems Canon brought out like in the 5D is certainly better than the Nikon D800 and Sony A-99 - which is exciting news that Canon is getting serious (less complacent) and hopefully on top again.

One area that does need work is the lens selection in the Eos-Mount however the EF adapter is good price and excellent adapter that allows you to use any of the excellent Eos lenses.

Looking forward to the 100-400 and will have an hard time beating the already good 100-400 in terms of value for money and image quality for the $$/££.    Expect that the USM will be top notch and new improved, improved 4 Stop IS at least and possibly trump card over Nikon "New Cannon Hybrid IS system compensates for both angle camera shake and shift camera shake".     Should be improved Optics with modern glass elements and construction; hopefully price will be nearer to the Sony MK 2 version of 70-400 lens around £1600 / $1900 rather than Nikon's price of £2500 / $2900.

Could be battling with the Rumoured D4x - D800 sensor / 2nd generation 36mp Sony FF chip ?

EOS Bodies / Re: Beginning of a new Canon starting with 7D Mk II?

Would like to see a 7d MK II with AF and metering functionality from the 5d MK 3, if they can do a sensor in the 24mp APS then this will be good and match against the Sony & Nikon as well along with a decent buffer and 8fps this will be a hit.

Would like to see a 34mp+ 5d X with same AF from excellent 5D MK 3 and fps around 6 mark and also the excellent Mraw, Sraw functionality as well coupled with CF and SDXC card slots.     Would be good if Canon could roll down 4K across their range as well to get march on their competition - as this will be the next big thing.

Doing a competitive 5D X in the price range of the 5D MK III will sell like hot cakes.

Hopefully Nikon could do a D800s / D800es with improve video and faster fps.

Lenses / Re: When is the New 100-400 Coming?
« on: May 16, 2013, 10:21:34 AM »
Sounds promising good to improve on a good lens with improve optics, USM and IS.   Hope it is twist zoom and that Canon's not copying Nikon's price of their 80-400 AFS VR.   If they price is at same as the Sony 70-400 MK II then this will be ideal.

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 200 f/2L IS & EF 800 f/5.6L IS [CR2]

Expect re-designs for these 2 lenses lighter like what Canon did with the recent updates to 400 f2.8, 500 & 600 F4.

One negative is that prices of these 2 lenses will go up and the 800 f5.6 may be similar or higher in price to the Nikon.

Could be time to buy to buy these lenses before they're replaced.

Thanks all.. good for Canon and for few months as well - that 5D MK 3 seems tempting...

A small selection of gear but better than Nikon is/or has offered and on more things + larger rebate.   The 5D MK 3 looks tempting and its a shame it is only running for 3 weeks.

Looking good to be returning to build of 40d/50d hope it is in same body as the 7d and would come with Wi-fi and GPS like the great 6D.

Hope Nikon is following and release a D400 with those 2 features Wi-fi & Gps without coughing up few hundred ££ for optional extras and also giving some pressure to Canon to release the Canon 7d MK 2.

Will be good development to have 3 5D variants; one the classic 22mp (current), one 40mp with AA Filter and one without hopefully Canon can retain the same fps as the current one.

Will be a winner and just need few of the older lens need updating

What I cannot see is a market for a D4x being same sensor as the D800/e and being 2-3 more expensive just for a pro body and few more fps.
