since you do not use your camera as a working horse to earn money, sony A7 is the best choice.. smaller size, better image quality, light and easy too as you can hang out with your friends without heavy burden

The corner look sharp but not very impressive.. i still doubt it worth the upgrade unless those video guy need the " IS "

If the fix the weakness of 17-40mm (soft corner) , then this lens is very reasonable priced !

I very interested in A7, but there is still some doubt that i cannot confirm from the google search,

1) can i know what brand of mount make it can use canon lens ?
2) If use canon lens will it fullframe compatible (no vignette) and able to autofocus ?

Software & Accessories / Re: Cheap UV filters: are they worth it?

I have used cheap filter be4, it make your lens not sharp at all.. My best recommendation for bang of buck is Hoya HD, I do have 1 B+W Nano on my 85mm L, i see no difference in image quality in Both this filter.. Both filter has special coating which is much easier to clean compared to cheap filter.  The different is B+W nano has much thinner frame compared to Hoya HD.

The German has leica, they lost because it slower to pull the triger (manual focus)

My opinion if you shoot wildlife, should stick with crop sensor for more economically. since now 70D has great iso performance, then 7dmarkii should be similar or better, so save your money first and wait for 7dmark2.

Lenses / Re: How much are you using the 40mm pancake?
« on: September 14, 2013, 10:33:31 PM »
I purchase the 5d3 in Hong Kong, they have promotion free the 40mm pancake, i just used it for a few hour and sold it.. at f2.8, i better use the 24-70.. and the bokeh is not that great. And i feel that the camera looks quite funny when mounted the lens, it attracts quite alot of attention in hong kong. However, it is quite sharp.

I have the 17-40L on my 5d3.. focus is quick and very sharp after f5.6...i like it very much compared to my 24-70L because it is very lightweight but still solid build. if u got extra $, go for 16-35 II L but it will be much heavier and cannot share filter as it is 82mm tread

EOS Bodies / Re: So I made the jump to FF - now what?
« on: July 08, 2013, 12:19:16 PM »
It actually depend what are you shooting.

For me if best value lens are:

17-40mmL , if got better budget get 16-35mm L II

135mmL , if got better budget get 85mmL II

Low light event:

70-200mmL non is, if got better budget get the IS II version

My first DSLR is nikon d3000 at my age of 19, i purposely bought the cheapest model to test whether i have any interests in photography. in between i have some newbie lens also eg, 35mm f1.8, 18-200mm and 55-200mm. after 2 years of doing photography , i found that i have passion in photography so i decided jump to FF. that time i only have 2 choice, 5dm2 or d700.. finally i choose canon cause,
1) 5dm2 have video capability d700 no.
2) 85mm f1.2L II
3) 24-70 2.8L is cheaper than nikon version (in my country)
4) 50mm f1.4 is cheaper than nikon version (in my country)
5) 17-40mm L cheaper than 16-35 f4 nikon version..
6) For Asian skin tone, i really like what the 5dm2 produced . in d700, our Asian yellowish skin tone look even worst.

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: Ultra long daytime exposures - 5D mkiii
« on: December 03, 2012, 05:09:29 AM »
Another new one from the other day.  I bracketed this image before the long exposure, but the DR was so good on the single long exposure that I didn't even need/want to use any of the brackets for the final image.  This is just a converted RAW, pretty much straight from camera...
