EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 6D Official Specs

Two thoughts: -

NO DIRECT PRINT BUTTON = EPIC FAIL!!

But overall, probably not a bad little camera.

In wishful thing mode, I wonder if Canon can add WiFi and GPS to the 5Diii as a pre-christmas facelift?  That would make the 5Diii a very attractive proposition.

I Like that idea but doubt it very much!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon 5D Mrk II & 500D Image Question

Ok updated the firmware and it looks better IMO what do you think:

5D II before firmware and 5D II After Update.

Looks a better exposure to me and taken a couple of shots around the house and I think its made a difference.

Hi Guys just before I run a firmware update to see if this improves my images I just thought I would share a couple example images for you to see what I mean:

You can see the 500d get a better picture but like you say if the 500D tends to over expose then this could be the answer. But I remember trying to up the ISO, drop the shutter and do anything I could to bring the image up to the same standard as I was getting on the 500D and I stuggled (at this event I was at a few weeks back, not in this case).

So these images are shot using the same setting on both cameras. Let me know what you think:

I understand what your all saying but durring this event that we were at I struggled so much to get the image to the exposure that I needed, I had to do the rest in lightroom. The firmware is well out of date so will sort that out first then I will post some image comparisons so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hi all just to let you know I tried all that and no joy! I'm going to upgrade the firmware and come back to you. Maybe that will help. Thanks for all the tips though. Will keep you updated (if anyone is interested).

Interesting! By the exact same settings you mean at least: Mode manual, Raw, ISO, Shutter Speed and Apperture? (and ALO and HTP off)

Intresting comment about the ALO and HTP. Not heard of these before will look in to it and come back to you. Thanks! But the other settings are exactly the same yes. Will have a check tonight and see. Thanks.

Apart from the crop factor all other settings are the same. Am I right in thinking that the 5D Mark II sould be brighter or at least the same as it has a larger sensor? I will try and get some pictures to show you the massive difference. Its quite shocking.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Canon 5D Mrk II & 500D Image Question
« on: June 25, 2012, 08:09:30 AM »
Hi all,

I have a possibly stupid question to ask but I'll ask all the same because I'm confused.

As the Subject suggests I have a Canon 5D Mrk II & 500D, Using the Canon 50mm 1.4 (and every other lens I try) if I take the exact same picture with the exact same settings on both cameras I get a significantly darker image from the 5D Mark II. In fact I'm struggling to push up the exposure on the 5D.

Something wrong with the camera or is it due to different sensors?

Thanks in advance!

Lighting / Re: Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Reviews

I've had this for a few weeks now. Its fantastic. Been using it with the 400ex and it works ok with that. Line of sight is weak but it works. I'm mainly using it with my skyport. Getting some fantastic results. Love the clip on colour filter too, I cut out som card for it and now using it as a defuser, works great and will save you a penny or two buying a separate defuser.

Well done Canon, love it!

And am reading this right - you need the ST-E3-RT transmitter (US$470) to wirelessly trigger the new flash?

The way I read it, the transmiter is built in to the Mark III. Very impressed with the Camera. Love it! Liver and lung are on ebay to cover cost. Happy Bidding!

absolutely NO mention is made about the sensor' size in the specs.
Could very well be the 7D II.
Anyone think the same?

jumping in wayyyy at the end of this thread

no, i haven't read all nine pages!lol

but... referring to the new pics out of africa (aperture academy - possible new 5d3) - seems to me there are TWO cameras in those pictures

this one (same basic layout as 5d2/7D) and this one (totally new arrangement)

has there been any speculation on what the second camera is??

Wow well spotted mate. I didnt even notce the straps are different.

Well done!

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Brief Specs? [CR1]

I don't understand why people think the 7d replacement would be full frame.

If canon bought out a FF 22mp, Pro AF, 7-8fps 7dII at the same SRP of the original 7d, who would pay more then double that for a 1dX?

If canon do bring out another highish fps FF camera, it wont be called the 7dII (or the 5dIII for that matter). They might do this, call it something else, end the 7d line and bring the 70d/80d up to fill the gap. but i doubt it.

I think the 7D Mk II needs to be put to bed now. In my view Canon would be mad to bring out the 7D Mk II  as sales are still doing well and its not nearly reached its end of life. It doesn't need to be replaced or upgrades right now. Its serving its purpose on the market so Canon wont touch it just now.

The 5D Mrk III or the 5D X (who knows what they will call it) will be cam on the leaked pics. Thats what the majority of people know/think so can we kill the full frame 7D II  idea as its a little off the mark.

Thanks,
