this canon camera, again, shows us who brings innovations to the biz... SONY and NIKON.

A freelancer without work I guess.
Seems many photographers have plenty of time for this kind of topics.

12 fps does not really offer much.  Sounds nice in theory but for wildlife I think it’s excessive

is it !!
Because of the 10/12 fps I have more pictures to choose from a burst of 10/12 fps.

Wow!  Great shots.  Can't believe how good they are at ISO 800!  Can you tell me what lens/converter combo you used for the ones listed as 840mm?

Lenses / Re: Canon USA Announces EF 300mm, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm L IS II Lens Firmware Version 1.1.1

I spoke to the Canon US service center in Irvine yesterday, and was told:
a) the firmware itself is not yet available; keep watching the support site
b) the newest bodies (e.g. 1DX, 5D3, 4Ti) will be able to update the lens firmware

So if you have one of the affected lenses, but not one of the newest bodies, find a friend that does so you won't have to ship your lens to a service center.

After waiting patiently for the firmware to post, I finally called Canon USA again.  Turns out that only the new 40mm can be upgraded via the newer bodies, so I do need to send my 300 in.  The good news is that they sent me a prepaid shipping label.

The 300/400/500/600 II will also be upgraded by Canon service centers with the 1Dx,5D3,4Ti, but the firmware of these super telelenses will not be made public like the firmware of the 40mm !!

Strange just got the new firmware installed on my lens.
Done in the Netherlands by Techrepair.

When checking the firmware you also see the 600 II firmware now.

The lens Firmware will not be available for download (like camera firmware) !!!

Last evening I got the error 80

I was using the 600 II + 1.4 III + Lexar CF 1000x 16GB.
Only one slot in use.

It better be a firmware issue !!!
I had to remove the battery to make the 1Dx operational again.

seems like yet another dslr that dissapoints with the effective resolution of it's 1080p (or so called) output. seems we'll have to wait another generation.

I really wonder who buys a 1dx for filming !!!
Not me that's for sure.
I use it for stills and that's where it's made for.

BeneLux including France seem to be the last countries scheduled for the 5D3 shippings..

FNAC customer service called me today. They told me shippings won't start until June....
I purchased a lens on a Hong Kong website, I had to pay taxes to get the package from the deliverer (around 70 euros)..

I'll wait.......

Not really.
In the Netherlands some big stores already had some in store around end march.
