Do you mean the two new PowerShot models?

No, it says DSLR (second status update).

Predictions for the three new DSLR bodies:

1) Canon T3 replacement (to counter the new D3200)
2) New Entry Level FF (to counter new D600)
3) New High MP FF (to counter D800)

 I love competition. :)

Hmm Photokina in 2 months. Anyone else excited?  :P

I hope Nikon and Canon will have supplies on hand for this holiday season. These entry FFs should be a huge hit.

Canon has lost this generation of camera bodys. So what? Nikon had been living in canons shadow since the d30. 8)

Agreed. Simply because something is (arguably) technically superior doesn't mean it will sell more. Canon can rest it's laurels on its reputation and brand. Well, at least it will buy it some time to counter IMO.

Anyone else wondering whether the differences between the D800 and D800e are statistically significant?

I would assume so. Most (all?) testing is not 100% accurate and I believe the standard accepted error% is +-0.05. Not sure if this falls within that range.

I'm not a math graduate so IDK.  :P

EOS Bodies / Re: Selling t3i for mark tw.... d600!?

Question is, Canon 5d mark ii for maybe 1500-1600 used or the new d600 with canon mount?

How do you expect us to make a recommendation on a product that is not even out yet? Canon has traditionally had better video features on it's DSLRs than Nikon. If you can afford to wait to get a better idea of what the Nikon D600 is, do it. If not, the 5DMK2 is an absolutely great camera that you can't go wrong with.

Even as a Canon shooter, I don't see what there is to get upset about. Competition is a beautiful thing :)

This is a positively refreshing take and exactly what this forum needs. Thank you.  :)

Does look pretty sweet, its even got a top panel LCD. Reading the spec list, it's also meant to have weather sealing!? How are they pulling it off? obviously it won't be top notch weather sealing, maybe a bit behind or equal to a 7D but the whole package is looking very appealing to me as I'v wanted FF for ages and was going to settle on a 5Dmkii and put up with the AF. Hmmmmmm...... I could deal with shooting Nikon and Canon.

They could be losing money on it and recouping it with fx lenses sold. Just one hypothesis I guess. I mean, it would be a good way to get people to buy into their system. I am interested for one.

Looks pretty close to the specs of the 5DIII to me

Hard to tell from the pictures, but the ergonomics seem way more prosumer (D7000) than the 5DMK2 or MK3. Not a surprise given the rumored price point of $1500. Can't have it all after all.  :P

Sooo...my 5DmkII is being considered 'entry level' now?

Well, technically it is the 'entry level' FF now. Although I wouldn't mind having one.   :P

This rumor seems more like wishful thinking than plausible reality. Just give me my 70D please.  8)

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Rebel T4i/650D on June 8, 2012? [CR2.5]
« on: June 03, 2012, 05:31:13 PM »
Sort of like a flip out screen was for the T3i. They basically didn't upgrade anything, but added a gimmick. Welcome to the Rebel line, where the T2i was the last really innovative upgrade. Reviews will tell, but it seems like the T4i is getting a few gimmicks (touch screen, video AF), with the AF being potentially the only real upgrade.

Some would argue that the flip out screen is not a gimmick and is actually practical in some applications.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D Specs [CR2.5]

In terms of specs alone the T4i/650D beat the D5100/D3200.

Really? It seems like more of a wash for me between the D3200 and the t4i. Both camera have continuous AF, nikon has a bigger sensor (which isn't always a good thing) and 2 more AF points (big whoop + not sure if they are all cross type like t4i).

But the D3200 is meant to compete with the t3 not the t3i/t4i. Shrug, all pretty similar IMO.

Anyone else catch this? Second paragraph of the introduction portion of the review:

"At the heart of the D800 is a brand new Nikon-developed sensor that boasts 36.8 million pixels in total..."

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-d800-d800e

So much for the myth that Sony developed the sensor.

EOS Bodies / Re: The Last Generation of the Crop Sensor Cameras
« on: April 26, 2012, 06:54:07 PM »
I'm sorry, last time I checked the Rebel series is one of the best selling DSLRs in the market today, period. Reason? Accessibility and price. Unless FX manufacturing costs go down substantially, crop sensors will be around for years.
