Street & City / First Car shoot sorta city
« on: April 30, 2014, 09:23:47 PM »
First time trying an auto shoot tried it out on my company car so that I could share the results with someone that has a car worth taking photos of.    Let me know what you think.     Both shots 6D with crapy old Sigma and ISO 100-200 for about 20 seconds lit only with a flashlight.

I know when I read the DP review of the lens that showed the Mustache affect that the lens will produce.  And with the 5D3 or 6D (which I have)  you can't setup in camera corrects for this lens correct?   Which means and I've never tried is there a profile one can download for LR5?

Also anyone know if you can get a deal on refurbed lenses from somewhere?   Looking not to spend 1100 if at all possible.

Again 6D, shot at sunrise 10stop ND shot at 28mm F22 for 128sec   Debating what I'll do to tweak the sky

Good point, but the color tone is off in the other image...the sky is boring as is, but it could have been tweaked with a grad filter in LR or PS.  It looks like a peaceful place though, I like it!

Emerald Isle North Carolina,  nice quiet beach town I'll have some more long exposures up soon I hope

Marine, nice picture, especially the color of the water...but wouldn't it have been a more successful composition if it were panned up a bit, to show more of the water, perhaps including the horizon and some of the sky?

Great question,  I just didn't feel this other shot had the same type of visual impact on the wide end as it did up tight.

made edits to remove dirt spots however if you blow it up near the guy is a bird, there is a strange line through the image, didnt notice any type of scratch on my lens and using heal etc in lightroom and I cant get it to go away.

a few specs of dirt made it onto my lens that I still need to remove, but I like it for being my first long exposure,  6D ISO 100 62 seconds using B+W 10 Stop ND

Other than possible new exciting sensor tech for APC to lessen the gap with FF, I just upgraded 1 month ago from the 450D to 6D and LOVE IT!!!!  I mostly shoot landscape, kids and some weddings and there are enough keepers with the 6D that I couldn't see justifying the 5D3.    I could now never go back to APC format.

OOO and gimic or not I use the WIFI feature all the time I love it.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Initial impression after using 6D
« on: March 21, 2013, 06:23:47 AM »
Its been 2 weeks since I started using the 6D and without even leaving the house I have about 1100 clicks which is a far faster rate than I took with my old 450D.    To be honest its fun again shooting because the limits are so much higher and I have more to work with before needing to grab the flash etc to get an okay shot.  This was just done with natural light near a patio door and previously I think I would have needed a hot shoe on the 450.

Obviously this isn't a sports camera, but its doing an Okay job keeping up with my toddler running around.  I know most around here frown upon it, but for daily shots that I don't  plan on blowing up to 20x30 I just shoot jpg.

Something else I should mention is the video mode, I use to be the guy saying "Canon keep costs down we don't need that video crap"  However I've used it probably a half dozen times already just because I didn't have to run to get the video camera when my son started doing something funny.  Far more useful than I would have expected it to be.

Well it came yesterday and as a whole "wow" what a step up from a rebel.  The feel, the size is just about perfect.

I only had the cash for the body but plan on getting glass in the next few months here.  With that being said I was using the Nifty Fifty.

Even with all lights on my 450D couldn't take a picture worth keeping without the hotshoe flash.  THIS CAN!!! I was stunned with auto ISO, as it was only Day 1 I left it in jpg and then AV and TV mostly.

Focus, was slow at times and seemed to search, I'm not sure if this was a lens or body issue or  maybe even user.  I know this isn't a sports or action cam but its forced into that roll as I have a 1.5 year old running around.

so the jury is till out on the focus... not sure if I was expecting more based on the -3EV rating.

WIFI was very cool, didn't really take any pics with it, but did transfer images straight to my iPhone 5 and post on Facebook or text them out to family.   Really easy.

Overall coming from the 450D and only fooling around for a few hours still learning this camera, I am impressed!!  I will try to get user pictures up in the near future.

(i think I might also see how I can do AFMA at home)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Swap-ability of batteries?
« on: March 05, 2013, 06:10:46 AM »
My 6D should arrive today, which comes with 1 LP-E6   but I also have several LP-E5 from my old Xsi(450D)

LP-E5   Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (7.4 V, 1050 mAh) new for EOS 450D/XSi and 1000D
LP-E6   Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (7.4 V, 1800 mAh) new for EOS 5D Mark 2

Does anyone know if they size etc are the same and the way I read this is that they are the same power the LP-E6 is just capable of storing more charge, but as a backup could I use the old batteries?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Amazon vs B&H for purchase?
« on: March 04, 2013, 06:00:51 AM »
I ended up going with Amazon because they offered 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime which meant 2 day free shipping so I will have it for my Birthday on the 6th.  So I saved about 50 dollars that way compared to B&H.

Only purchased the body, so I'll be using my Nifty Fifty for a while longer... depending on how much cash from family I get for my birthday I'm leaning Toward the Tamron 24-70 F2.8      Otherwise maybe the Kit lens but thats only an F4 so semi low lens, not sure that if would be worth it.

Buying a 6D today... will be huge upgrade from my 450D, the only question I have is for ease of returns or warranty does it matter?

I'm guessing canon is involved and am curious if they will test bodies already on the market.   I have family who are fairly high up the ladder there so ill see if I can get more info
