Wierd that we in europe have to pay 80$/month incl vat or 66$/month excl. vat for a digital product with no extra costs for Adobe? exept for the language package.

At least give me the choise to buy the english package for the english prices.
Still 50$/month is to much 30$/month would be just about acceptable to me

I did. So could you "disclose" the language you wrote in? I thought it was a German base but could not identify the language.

German would be Sprechen, can't recall how it was said in Dutch but quite often Dutch sounds like horribly misspelled German. Le English sounds like making fun of French (they say it anglais just to make it sound prettier). Muy Bien is normal, go live anywhere within 1000 miles from the south border of USA, and you'll hear that all the time (and many other places too). Iz diz goot is typical slang level of the US English these days.

Bah! And I thought I actually figured a few words in that narration. Never mind...
 

actualy "spreken"  is correct dutch and does mean talking

I don't think you'll have a problem with the 1DC.
since you're only dealing with the builtup of internal heat a 1 hour shoot won't overheat the camera.

But it's always wise to test it out first before comiting to this solution.
So rent one and make a test dive.
Love to see the 4k results

The 5D MK II and MK III cannot do this.  The feature is being added to the 1D X.  You can do it with a Nikon D800.
 
It works by using the HDMI output, but the output is at reduced resolution in all but the 1D X.  This makes direct recording undesirable.

That's incorrect, uncompressed HDMI output will be added to 5D Mark III in April, no plans for 1D X and other cameras yet.

So, after April, 1D C and 5D Mark III are the only two cameras in the Canon DSLR line that are capable of utilising external recorders.

A quick question tho...

The OP originally asked about recording straight to a laptop, will this be possible with the firmware update to the 5D3, or will it have to be some sort of dedicated external recorder?

yes you'll need a dedicated external recorder like the ninja for this.
as far as i know laptop hdmi ports are hdmi-out only

You shall not alter, modify, disassemble, decompile or otherwise reverse engineer the Software and you also shall not have any third party to do so.

And if someone does, do they get sued or just loose warranty?? And what if someone hacks it in Thailand where USA can't sue? Just asking...

what you do to your camera is your business you only loose your claim to any waranty.
The person that offers modified software/frmware could be sued when that person isn't some anonymous entity on the net.

for video the best shutter speed is double the framerate here in pal country it's 25fps so a shutterspeed of 50 is ideaal for smooth motion.
Higher shutterspeeds will give you choppier motion (even in natural light) so only good for very fast moving subjects
also it will give you strobe effect with a lot of lighting sourches and when shooting video walls etc...

you can get away with lower speeds but motion will become more blury/soft.

For what a fool I made of myself, you guys have been great. I'm glad I made the mistake because I never will again.

I'm still confused as to why Canon and other companies don't print onto the lens the actual focal length that will be utilized. I now know that the 18-135mm lens is an 18-135mm lens, but the camera and pictures being produced are not at 18-135mm, its at 29-216mm. Isn't it more "honest" and more relevant to tell the customer what the "actual" focal length(s) the lens will be giving him? Because zoomed out, its not showing 18mm, its showing 29mm. Telling me that it is 29-216mm lens would make more sense because that is what focal lengths are actually being used.

For a ef-s (aps-c only) lens it doesn't make much sense to call a 29-216 lens a 18-135 lens because that lens will never be put on a FF body.
but then the confusion starts when you put a 24-105L (FF) lens on a crop body eq  38-168mm.
The numbers on the lenses are correct you just have to multiply it by the crop factor. FF=1x aps-h=1,3x and aps-c=1,6x

That isn't true.
if you want to have the same field of view with a crop and a FF and your using your ef-s lens at 18mm you'll have to put an 28,8 lens on the FF for the same picture.
and  a FF 18mm will give you the same field of view on your crop as an ef-s 18mm lens will.

I shoot with an 7d and have  ef-s and FF lenses

in the above video you can clearly see that the camera is in foto mode during the remote shooting presentation.
in the manual it is clearly stated in the wifi and video sections that video is disabled when wifi is enabled and visa versa.
I don't get the reasoning why this is but to criple the functionality of this camera.
Lets hope that the ML crew can free these functions in the near future

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the advantages of built in wifi for videographers. We fly a 60D on a crane sometimes and being able to see what I'm recording wirelessly on any of my pocketable screens, or even a tablet will be ground breaking for that kind of work. Or how about those shots where the camera is hidden? I've done a shot with a dslr that was inside a fridge and though its a rare shot, the convenience of less takes is always welcome. Directing via cell phone? Man... I'm betting anything the magic lantern guys are already thinking of ways to play with the wifi function.

It would have been great for videographers only wifi doesn't work in video mode.!!
maybe ML will fix this in the near future

I'm pretty sure that they will have 2 versions on the camera in countries that the wireless spectrums used are not a) available or b) legal for consumer product use.  I think the same has been talked about already for the rt-600 flash.

This is what we think in Europe too, especial the others not me! I hope the 6Dn will come to us and you too, because i don´t ned gps and wlan and dont want to pay for that. 

I don't care about GPS but after hearing of the use of Android/iPhone as a remote trigger/viewer I have changed my mind about wifi.  I could live without it but I am happy to see that Canon is accepting established versatile technology as an accessory

except when recording movies then wifi is disabled??
