Lenses / Re: Canon 24-70 2.8 ll or 20-60 2.8 mark 1 ?

I never understood why cine lenses are saw awfully expensive. Is it because they are parfocal or. Are there other reasons? I guess resolving power is less of an issue than for still photography (4K is only ~8MP).

Yes, but but cinema cameras have smaller sensors, too. So the pixel density is higher than on a 8MP full-frame.

The 580EX II can be a master, so you can fire your 430EX II in slavemode and it fires when the 580 fires. No need for an extra device. But it does not work the other way around because the 430EX II can't work as a master flash. I have a 430EX II and a Yongnuo YN-565EX and both work great with the YN-622c triggers. I have 2 pairs of them and they work really well.

Abstract / Re: Beautiful bokeh! Let me see yours!
« on: April 28, 2013, 09:05:47 AM »

Nice.  That's one lens I haven't shot, although between the 85mm f/1.8, the 100L, and the 135L already in my bag, I probably won't be getting it.  Still, I've heard nothing but good about it.

It is awesome. :) Sharp wide open, creamy bokeh, very good corrected and the autofocus is superfast! But if I had the 100L and 135L i wouldn't bother buying it neither.  ::)

100mm f/2 on 5D Mark II, quite a bokehlicious combo. :)

Canon General / Re: Why do you do Photography?

First: I can't draw to save my life. Second: I love capturing moments and emotions. But the most important thing to me: There is nothing to me like the feeling you get when you press the shutter button and you just KNOW that you just captured a great moment. There are these moment in portrait shoots where the model responds to something  in a way that is purely "him" or "her". And if you capture these moments it's a great feeling. :) Like this picture from the portrait session last weekend. I just love it. :)

Lenses / Re: near future lens size and resolution

Maybe in the future when we have ultra-high megapixel counts, they adopt the methods of the Nokia Pureview. Slap a super high-resolving sensor in the device and zoom in with cropping the sensor.

The first DSLR i used in school was a Nikon D300. I liked it very much but i didn't understand the controls right It wasn't intuitive enough for me as a beginner in photography. And the second thing I didn't get about Nikon cameras was the nomenclature. It was easier for me to choose a Canon camera that fitted my needs and my bank account than it was to choose a Nikon at that point. Also i liked the controls more. I considered both, Nikon and Canon and settled with a Canon 450D, which then got upgraded to a 5D Mark II. :)

I like the stuff Yongnuo makes very much! The reviews I've read and watched about the YN-560 are very good and it has some very useful features like a beep when its ready to fire again. They are also easier to use than Canons in my opinion. On my 430EX II you have to push the Set-button long to change the flash output, with the Yongnuos you have a four-way-dial for full-stop or 1/3rd-stop increments.

Today i had my YN-622c eTTL trigger in the mail and they feel very durable and well built, they also look very nice with the shiny surface on top. The feature set is impressive for 80€ triggers. Now I can change my flash output from the camera and won't need to go to the flash and fiddle with the buttons, which (let's be honest) looks not very professional on a portrait shoot.

I will buy a YN-565 with another set of triggers in the future when one light isn't enough anymore. :P

On his OneLightWorkshop DVD, Zack Arias is using the AlienBees besides various Speedlites. He's a genius when it comes to Speedlite and flash photography in general. The results are great!

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: The Next Zeiss Lenses? [CR2]
« on: March 04, 2013, 07:06:39 AM »

Absolutely.. But it would have to actually have AF :D Zeiss for Canon is all MF.

Not only Zeiss on Canon, but Zeiss in general. They don't produce autofocusing lenses. Imagine the cost of a Zeiss lens with some kind of USM autofocus.  :o

...AND Image Stabilization!  :o  :o

And as fast as you can say "Zeiss" we're in the price range of a decent car. But holy mother of glass, that would be AWESOME! :D

Zeiss for Sony is AF.

Yeah, you're right! I forgot about that for a minute... I really would love to have an AF Zeiss lens for the EF mount. Not to mention the money to buy such a lens. :D

Lenses / Re: Best Value "Normal" Lens for 6d?
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:16:24 AM »
On FF a fast 50 will be a very good normal lens. I started on my 5D MkII with only the 50mm 1.4 and i shot everything with it. Landscape, portraits, concerts etc. It's amazing how versatile a 50mm on fullframe is. :)

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 6D or 7DMKII?
« on: February 26, 2013, 05:13:34 AM »
It's actually pretty simple. If you need the AF performance and fps, go for the 7D. If you need the DR and quality and want to get rid of the cropfactor, go for the 6D. If you need all of this, the 5D MkIII will be the way to go. :)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: New MFA method
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:02:16 PM »
The photos with the 50mm 1.4 are significantly sharper now that i found its "sweet spot". I knew that the 50mm 1.4 wasn't the sharpest lens wide open and i thought this would be normal, but now the photos have a good sharpness even wide open. :)
