That's quite an improvement, how are they managing to improve this without increasing the amount of RAM in the buffer? Is it more efficient data transfer protocols, or have they found a way to utilise the improved transfer speeds of the latest generation of CF cards?

I don't understand how a jump from 15 to 26 can be done with a firmware update either. Good question.

Holy smokes - awesome feedback here guys. Thank you all very much for your opinion, even the film haters. 
Jose Villa is a name that came to mind when I saw the debate about nobody shooting film professionally.
I'm leaning EOS 3.
Speaking of www.thedarkroom.com, I just found that site the other day when searching for somebody to develop my 120 holga film. I have one of their postage paid envelopes on the way but haven't used them yet.

Does anybody have any tips or advice on either the EOS-1V or the EOS-3? I'm looking at purchasing one of them.
Do they work with the same lenses that the 5D works with?
Ebay okay to buy from, or would you recommend elsewhere?

« on: May 29, 2012, 09:42:17 PM »Its hard to tell what is selling. Many sellers, for example make up kit deals with bodies and multiple lenses, even Canon has a kit and non kit version. Amazon does not add up all the 50 or 100 different versions to give a total, so the information is not really accurate.
I also believe that Big dollar camera equipment buyers do not buy from Amazon, most of them have learned the hard way. Amazon seems to have pretty well given up on selling lenses, at least the last time I checked, only a very few were sold by Amazon. They likely got bit by returns from inexperienced photographers.
Good points here. I had a bad time with Amazon and the 5dm3 and eventually went elsewhere.

I just finished reading through McNally's book (Hot Shoe Diaries), again, and it is awesome. Even better the second time through. Tons of great lighting advice in there. I highly recommend it.

McNally has a real down to earth style about how he sets up his scenes and just makes it work, very very well, with what he has - which is small light in this book.
