EOS Bodies / Re: High Megapixel Camera Coming in 2015 [CR3]
« on: December 18, 2014, 02:24:21 AM »
Since 3D is really confusing, what do you think about 2D? 2D is the way we see things actually, especially on photos and prints. And 2D is below 1D line but way above 5D, it will work from marketing point of view?

How do you sell a picture for so much?

Having sold other pictures for a lot of money, even if not as much.

What he's selling is his brand as much as the picture. It takes a lot of marketing to achieve that.

You can't convince someone to pay $1million for a first up photo you've made a print of, but if you've sold prints for $100s of thousands before then $1million isn't such a big ask. And so on.

If you want to sell a $1 million photo today then start selling $100 photos today and at some point in the future, do more limited runs of photos for $1000s and so on until you're doing 1 of's for $millions.

It's not just the picture he sold but also his name and a name brand that he has built up over time and convinced people that he is worth it.

But as I pointed out above, according to the source, he has sold prints for $150 million (until 2011), do you find this credible?

this is actually a decent shot but worth that much money?  :o

It's a decent shot, but nothing more.  Considering his past, I'd not be surprised if the "phantom" wasn't fauxtoshopped in.  It also wouldn't surprise me at all if the buyer of this had initials P.L., and that the high announced price was just to generate buzz to sell lots of $200-$1,000 prints.

He must have sold lots of $200-$1,000 prints then. In this older link from 2011 it is stated that he has sold over $150 million in limited edition prints to (that) date...

Of course this is most probably made-up, just like all his BS marketing

There are full res images too. Look under the image, near its name there is a link: "( Click here to view larger image )". Enjoy! :)

OK, thanks, sorry but my Chinese let me down this time :)

Don't forget to take into account that most U.S. workers make less per hour than folks in other countries. Minimum wage in the U.S. is only $7.25 per hour.

Edit: Just did a quick Google search and see that "Last week, the lower house of Parliament in Germany voted to set a nationwide minimum wage of 8.50 euros an hour, about $11.60 (USD), effective in 2015. The upper house is expected to approve the measure this week."
That's a 60% increase over the minimum wage in the U.S.  Not that everyone makes minimum wage of course.
First:
A product has a value (production+logistics+r&d+ etc.) that is (edit:) almost independent to the market you sell it.
Sales strategy is something different.
Second:
Please also goole up not only the gross but also the net income after all taxes, social insurance and also the costs for rent, living, etc.
(I'm not willing to do so. It's your argumentation.)

So your comparison isn't one. I can find no argument.

+1, and furthermore, in Bulgaria, which is also in the European Union, the minimum wage is about USD 215 per month, the average one is about USD 400 per month. I don't see the prices being 10 times cheaper than US, on the contrary, they are the same as in all Europe

EOS Bodies / Re: 46MP body rumor is hoax?
« on: November 04, 2014, 10:15:55 AM »
I don't know if this was already posted somewhere in the thread for the 46MP body, but obviously the "rumour" on Fred Miranda's blog about this body, which started the hype was either crazy or a hoax:

http://photographicwanderings.com/2014/10/02/news-46mp-megapixel-canon-1dsx-dslr-about-to-be-announced-or-the-anatomy-of-a-rumor/
*lol*
Thanks for sharing.

+1  Brought a smile to my face, that's worthy of thanks.  :)

Yes, on mine as well :) Next time we better ask George W. Bush directly, if he has a report for a forthcoming Canon product :) You can't blame the guy actually, he said that this is his prediction and everyone thought that this is some elaborate way to say "inside information", because this is what everyone wished for :) Of course the fact that Fred Miranda himself said that "he trusts this guy" helped a lot. Which in itslelf raises a lot of questions regarding ethics etc.

P.S. when I watch that photo, I can't help but think of Twin Peaks - "The owls are not what they seem"  ;D

EOS Bodies / Re: A New EOS Pro Body With 46mp Next Month? [CR1]
« on: September 19, 2014, 04:58:08 AM »
I don't know if someone already posted this, but according to this site:
http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr4-no-other-new-camera-from-sony-at-photokina-sr5-new-generation-sensor-and-cameras-release-in-january/

"(SR5) Sony is preparing a BIG event in January! They will release a complete new generation of cameras with a new generation sensor. Cameras have those two features:
1) Very high resolution and dynamic range. One of them is a 46 megapixel FF sensor.
2) Very fast AF speed

I know it’s strange they did not announce those at Photokina. But that it is. I Thank All trusted sources for the info they shared the last couple of weeks. I hope you sources can help me to feed SAR readers with some reliable rumor about the next generation cameras coming in January!

-

A couple of notes: January announcement is 100% correct as it really got confirmed by highly trusted sources. So trust me on this"

I really hope Canon will not lag behind and this new EOS body becomes a fact

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D Mark II Specifications Confirmed
« on: September 11, 2014, 11:22:03 AM »
To all of you who say, that these specs are appropriate for a 2014 camera and not for 2012, bear in mind that with this replacement cycle, the next 7D will be available in 2019. What would you think of those specs even in half of that term?
You claim that these specs are the best package compared to the competition, but the competition will be releasing their competing bodies in the near future, not in 5 years. This camera sounds boring
