Noob at reading these charts here. The x and y axis are not labelled, what should be there?

After I missed the 7D for $1199 yesterday this brought me out my :( state and has me very ;D!

Does anyone have a take on what coming soon/very soon generally means to CR? Both were referenced in this post.ß

Thanks for your thoughts. The price just jumped back up to $1,519.00. Ah well.

Looks like it's over. Now the CR link doesn't have the $1199 price.

Yep. Back up to $1,519.00.

Whoa! That's a fabulous price for the 7D.

I've been debating the T3i (waiting on the T4i) and the 60D but put the 7D out of contention because of the cost. Is this a too good to pass up discount?

A follow to the original question...

The t4i doesn't look like it's going to make an appearance for a while, the 60D was semi-'upgraded' with the 60Da and the 7D is holding fast as it is.

Presently this is the approximate price comparison for the body only versions of each

~650 - T3i
~900 - 60D
~1400 - 7D

CR just posted a deal for the 7D at Adorama for 1199.

This puts the sale price near the middle of the standard pricing of the 60D and the 7D. Is this a too good to pass up price drop? Thoughts/suggestions?

I feel your pain, wellfedCanuck.

I'm itching for any news on the T4i. The other day someone I work with told me that a CostCo he frequents informed him that their T3i stock was almost gone and that it wouldn't be resupplied. What that means exactly? Who knows.

addame, mummel, it looks like we're all in a similar position.  :)

I'm planning to purchase my first DSLR in the next few weeks and have been trying to determine what to do. Here's my approach:

Waiting to see what Canon does in the next 15 or so days (now through NAB). If they announce the T4i, great! If they don't, I'll likely pick up the 60D or the T3i. They are both great cameras and each will offer an opportunity go through the DSLR learning curve.

My primary use will be video which means I will be swayed by that feature set more than anything else.

This post might be a helpful read: http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/03/rebel-t4i650d-information-cr1/

Also from a 3/7/12 post:

I haven’t received any specs of the camera, just proof that it exists and it’s coming soon. I expect DIGIC 5, articulating LCD and new movie features. -- http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/03/whats-next-a-general-breakdown/

I can't find something I read about coupons for the T3i expiring today (3/31/12). It would have been in Canon's interest to keep any news of the T4i close to the hip if this is true. My fingers are crossed that info 'leaks' to CR early next week.

Like you, I'm very excited. #fingerscrossed

...discounting by adding extra goodies.

As Quasimodo said, it's not a bad problem to have if all the equipment is the same in quality. I wish I had something to suggest regarding Boston. Hopefully someone else can offer up a suggestion or two.  :)

If my understanding is correct from the experiences noted with the brick and mortar vs warehouse vs online... If I'm looking for service and to build a relationship there are a few to stick with in the NYC area and equipment standards are the same regardless where it is purchased.

Curiously, or interestingly, I'm not sure which, nobody seems to have made mention or online options.

Great tips, dturano.

The drive might eat into any savings with gas prices being what they are. Abes completely slipped my mind, thanks for the reminder.

Canon General / Where to buy Canon gear?

Possible noob question...

Where is the best place to order Canon gear?

I ask because I've been told that the equipment sold to Costco, for example, is different than to B&H or Amazon. When the time comes for me, or anyone, to purchase a DSLR, lens, bag, or accessories, what would you recommend?

Note: I am in the NYC area.

Thanks, peederj.

I may be jumping the gun but if the T4i is announced and it steps up the game, even a little bit, it's going to be the camera to choose. A lightweight camera will be an aspect that will place highly in my list of needs.

The moire-free zoom is something I was unaware of until now.

Please keep the suggestions coming. I'm thrilled to be learning so much about these DSLRs.  ;D
