EOS Bodies / Re: 70D and Dxomark....
« on: September 07, 2013, 03:13:08 PM »
I can't wait for Nikon to go out of business. Their sensors are worse in every way that matters, their bodies are low quality and the controls make no sense and their pathetic excuses for lenses  perform worse than coke bottles.

I have to try hard not to laugh out loud every time I see a moron who spent thousands on a "pro" Nikon body. Pathetic. The 70D wipes the floor with everything Nikon can put out at any price level.

LOL why buy a nikon camera? They are about 8 years behind Canon. Buy an 8 year old Canon for cheaper and get the same image quality as a new nikon.

I don't know why those jokers are still in the industry they make the worst cameras ever. Even my iphone beats a Nikon.

Take it easy Jrista

Depending on the subject's DR range , you get the option to either expose after the highlights, so they are properly estimated without clippning and color defects or you chose to expose after the midtones / shadows with risk of clippning of highlights, You have several choices  if you have 14 stops compared to 11 stops

This is 1dx and d800 ,  same exposure, time , f-stop and 100iso
Canon has still some work to do in the lowest levels compared to Nikon
Latest Camera Raw and the motive is lifted equal so we can se details in the lower levels
1dx to the left d800 to the right. I do not think 1dx has improved the DR so much compared to 5dmk3

More fakes!

All these 35mm DSLR's have pretty similar IQ at reasonable ISO's.

Nikon D800 | ISO 100 | 1/100s @f/11:

Canon 5D Mk III | ISO 100 | 1/100s @f/11:

... and that's at 800px web size.

What a terrible hoax. lol.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon EOS-1D X DXOMark Sensor Scores
« on: October 11, 2012, 04:17:08 PM »
I guess Nikon's money ran out and they're finally giving proper scores too other sensors.

I wonder if they'll have the courage to go back and put the 5D3 score up to where everyone knows it should be, or if this frightened Nikon enough to get some more Nikon cash in dxo's pockets?

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II Arrived

Digital Rev are talking rubbish about this being a plasticy lens unlike the nice metallic original. Can someone set my mind to rest and confirm that this is made of all metal like a lens of this class should be?

7
Half plastic, overpriced, usual Nikon poor image quality, very inaccurate autofocus... don't know why they even bothered. Pointless gimmick camera. Bit I guess they'll just bribe dxo to give it 10x the score it deserves again.

I never said the 85mm 1.8G was a bad lens. All I said is that Nikon barely caught up and to claim that is vastly superior to either the Canon 85mm 1.8 or 100mm f/2 is non-sense. Especially as the canon alternatives are 100$ cheaper and they provide equal performance to the ALL NEW NIKON 85mm 1.8G! :o :o :o Fancy!

As for black & white portraits not showing CA's, I had a beer and took a photo. I don't see any CA's at f/2.8, so I don't see this remark of CA's at F/5.6 being solid. If your shooting tree branches all day into the afternoon sun, show me a lens that doesn't show CA's. :P

D30 - 100mm F/2 @ 2.8
Funny thing is, that beer bottle is optically better than the Nikon 85mm

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mk III vs D800/E, is the 5D3 better at anything?
« on: July 05, 2012, 04:01:29 PM »
I think Ken Rockwell also published a head-on comparison and the 5D3 won it based on useability alone.

(Apologies if this was already mentioned, didn't feel like reading all 26 pages of replies.  :o)

Great. Now we are going to get 26 pages of Ken Rockwell wars. :)

Why? Because he bounces around like ping pong ball in a lotto machine?
He recognises that the 5Dmk3 is 500x the camera that the D800 will ever be, so he can't be that stupid.

I too am testing the d800. As a very happy 5d II & III owner, along with a Pentax 645D system, the D800 is more than intriguing to me.

Looking to dump the 645D as its processing time is unbelievably pathetic. 6+ seconds to see a preview... Clients get annoyed really quickly.

I did do a 3 camera test with the pentax 645D, 5D III, & D800. Nothing super fancy. Just checking sharpness at 100%.

They ranked in the order as listed above. Unfortunately. I really wanted to dump the 645D. The D 800 was soft. So soft I mounted the camera on a tripod, used mirror lock up, etc. the shots were at 160thof a second at f9. Clearly no need to use MU AT 160. But I had to rule it out.  I took the samples to my local shop, knowing my 20 year pro career, they were baffled as user error was not going to be an issue ;).  As they have seen strong results from the D800, they believe this is a "bad camera" as we swapped multiple lenses and copies of those lenses at the store. Same result. Soft!!!  Perfect.  On a camera you can not get your hands on, I need another copy to test. Ugh!!!

The 645D was sharp as sharp could be.  Reason enough to put up with its dog slow performance. Don't get me wrong the 5D III rocks.  I love it. It will remain in my bag. Hopefully making room for a 30+ MP camera from canon soon.
That's just how it is. High resolution smudges. Not that putting different 2nd rate glass in front of it would help either.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: The 5D Mark III & SD Memory Cards
« on: July 05, 2012, 01:50:23 PM »
I own a 5D III (bought it at an authorized dealer) and left similar feedback about the SD slot when rating the camera on Canons website. Overall I gave the 5D III a 2 star rating because I really felt it wasn’t much more of a camera than the 5D II. Canon would not post my review, i received an email saying my review was declined after review for it’s negative content. Negative maybe, but my reasons, such as the buffer being limited by the SD card slot, were not untrue.
Nobody would give such a fantastic camera a 2 for such minor things. I wonder if you work for Nikon and they're getting desperate with the D800 and D4 not selling.

12
Never. Nikon isn't a pro camera company any more, and no professional takes them seriously.

All they do is put more and more pixels in, trying to compete with Nokia, and they can't even do that properly. lol

Like every single professional in the world I am sticking with Canon, where you have image quality instead of megapixels and L glass instead of 2nd rate recycled glass coke bottles. lol

EOS Bodies / Re: Is SLR dead?
« on: June 30, 2012, 08:42:27 AM »
SLR isn't dead yet or Canon would have made a mirrorless already. They know the business better than anyone in this thread.

The release on the Canon mirrorless system will be the beginning of the end.

14
Too many megapixels, will suck like D800. Even Nokia beat Nikon on megapixels lol! So much to learn. Less is best like Canon.
