Works perfectly well in my 60D, I use the video features only though. Just drop the files on all your SD cards, install it like a regular canon firmware and voila. Remember not to delete the ML files from your SD card after you install it, as far as I know the files also need to be on the SD card for ML to work.

You can also still reformat your card in-camera without deleting the ML files, I believe it even says how on the camera menu.

Seems safe and stable in my 60D but keep in mind (if you use it for video) that you'll probably need faster SD cards if you intend to play with higher bit-rates and other heavy stuff. My cards seem to buffer and stop recording more often than before.

Tell your friend to stop being jealous of your equally awesome 60D    There's nothing in the sensor that would give the 7D better depth or "natural feeling". You guys are probably shooting with different in-camera settings
(White Balance,Picture Style,etc), therefore the flat/"natural feeling" differences. As for the depth, probably shooting with different or faster lenses that allows a shallower depth of field. Both camera should be nearly indistinguishable
in video mode, Rebels also look near identical too.

Photography is another story

Wait for the T4i announcement, see if the new features are worth the wait. If not, then get a cheap 60D body (800-900) and start investing in lenses. Rebel bodies in my opinion are just too small, made of light plastic, lacking fast access buttons, etc....and I don't think the T4i will change that.

If a new 60D or 7D gets announced, it probably won't be until the end of the year. You could sell the old body and get the updated one later. That's what I'm planning to do, 5DMK III is too expensive and the Rebels are just too uncomfortable when compared to a 60D or 7D(don't get the 7D, no swivel screen, same video).

Hope it helps for something, I use mine mostly for video.

for video....if you're on a budget, I don't think you should be looking at the best lenses from Canon. You could wait for the new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 IS, should be released very soon ($900-1000?), seems like a good all around lens.

I think the lack of image stabilization in fast top Canon lenses makes them too expensive for videographers. If you're going to spend a lot in a lens for video, it should have IS.

I'd get something similar to this set, there are other options but most have slower apertures.

Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 IS
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Canon 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4

I think this should cover most of your shots, maybe get a telephoto later. 

The tokina doesn't function well on full frame, I'd stay away from it.

Valid point, I forgot it was for the 5D. Forgot about the different sensor sizes, I have a 60D. Anyway, he could get a better equivalent for the 5D, the other 2 should work.

I think this is not a huge problem if you're only taking stills, but I just bought my Canon for the video features. It's pretty hard to spot a hot/dead pixel in an 18MP picture unless you blow it up. In video is far more noticeable when you have relatively small resolutions compared to stills.

Maybe this is why it bothers me a bit more than people that only shoot stills. As for now, I'm not that angry since i think it's only on the LCD.

I had a similar problem with my 7D recently (as well as my mother's XSI).  After doing a little bit of hunting online, I came across a solution that appears to have worked.

Take a 30 second exposure with the lens cap on (you'll see any and all dead pixels show up!).  Then run the sensor cleaning for the same amount of time.

Yes, this works great most of the time. I did this on my first hot pixel I found on my 60D and after the first try it was gone!

The new one I have won't disappear with this trick, but I actually think it's only on the LCD and not on the sensor like the first one I fixed. This one seems to appear on the menu's and preview mode (unlike the first one). I zoom in the pics and move them all around the LCD and the pixel stays in the same place. That's what makes me think it's only on the LCD unlike the first one.

If anyone knows more than me about this stuff, please fill me in. Stuck pixels on LCD's don't bother me as much as one on the sensor.

I made this thread because defective pixels is something almost everyone experiences when owning a camera. I wanted to know your stories with this kind of problem. Getting a hot/stuck/dead pixel is almost a given and most people don't even notice them. Is this something you forgive and move on, or take it back and get it replaced for a new one?

I recently bought a 60D and the exact second I turn it on, I saw a red dot on the left side of the screen. At first I thought It was only on the LCD but then I realized It wasn't because I couldn't see it in the menu mode.

I did the Sensor Manual Clean fix and It worked like a charm, the hot pixel disappeared instantly. Now I started using an LCD viewfinder and I spotted a green pixel near the center of the screen. I tried searching for it in my footage but I can't seem to find it. This pixel is different because this one I can see it in the menu screen and in every picture and video in the LCD preview mode.

If I can see it in the menu does it mean It's not on the sensor? and how do you guys deal with your pixel problems.

I went for the 60D until the 5D MKIII comes out. When the new 5D gets announced, I'll check the features, pricing, etc. and If I like it then I'll sell the 60D and buy it. If not, then I'll stay with the 60D until the new 7D or 60D comes out.

It all depends on how much money you have and how long can you wait without working. I had the money and I personally couldn't wait more, don't regret buying a 60D.

If this info is actually true then I'm not that surprised. They could have added 50p/60p to the Mark II but they didn't. They want people to buy the new 7D II, 60D II etc.

Damn, I'm lost right now. What should I do guys?

I'm about to order a T3i or 60D to work until the MarkIII is released. Those are some awesome prices, but I fear this might be a sign that new EOS are coming soon.

If it's just Bet Buy being extremely generous and has nothing to do with them clearing stock for the new ones...I will buy one right now.
