I think since at 2.8 it would be equivalent to 16mm on APS-C, it could possible used indoors in certain circumstances for low light/hand held Photography, plus even if 2.8 is a bit soft,
its better to have it there if you need it and stop down for better results when you want to.

but all of this is still speculation so we will have to wait and see how the lens performs.

Id love to see a new 50 1.4 II at around 500$, anything higher than that and a lot of people wont be buying it due to somewhat of a price barrier or price vs performance issues,
For what i want to upgrade to id like to see a better Build with ring USM and some updated optics, at 1.4 you don't really need stabilization IMO.

I don't Get why Canon doesn't improve they're features Via firmware or software tweaks, as something like Custom Af point selection and such could set them apart from the competition and create competitiveness with other companies, becoming a win-win for everyone.

Any word on the focus speed/Accuracy when testing the "shorty forty" out ? im wondering how the new STM lenses will hold up vs conventional focusing.
