I have to admit that I was sort of apprehensive about making the original post, thinking it might be viewed as an empty complaint .But there's lots of good advice and suggestions flowing thru this thread.
I'll endeavor to keep the ideas in my head during my next contact with the hall .

Thanks for all the replies, in all honesty I was curious to see how a forum full of people who make a living thru photography would react to this situation.

I'd imagine the next logical step is to make contact in a civil manner and see how it goes from there . Like I mentioned earlier I'm flattered they chose to use my work, just not happy about how they went about it.

I'll update this thread for those interested as the matter progresses .

What are you doing about it is the question. Are you letting this one slide because that's the worst thing you could possibly do. All that does is give other potential billboard picture thieves the green light to steal more photog's work.

I just found out late last night, as to what I'm going to do about it... I guess that is a valid question. First step is making contact on Monday when there are folks in the office.
Here's the trailer.

I was on the clock for the company, the Union sends us to the jobs but are not our employers.

I find myself in an odd situation .
By trade I am an Union Electrician that works on industrial and commercial jobs. In most cases right along with my tools of the trade is my camera .

In the past I've been requested by some of the contractors I've been working for to take photos of jobs for various reasons such as quality control, progress and on occasion just because they wanted a few shots for the shop. Since I was on the clock while filling these request ( and we make a pretty good hourly wage ) I was fine with taking the time to snap a few.  With the addition of photo credits listed to any public showing or I'd have no complaint .

Also the Union Hall has from time to time requested me to photograph events or contribute some of my stock photos to show solidarity by posting them on the website or adding them with a small caption to the monthly newsletter .
Beforehand it was always mentioned that the photos would be used be displayed in the Union Halls online gallery or possibly published in the news letter .  One thing I always require is that when it comes to use of my photos that I get proper credit for them, and they be used as agreed upon.

Yesterday while logged onto Facebook one of my Union Brother posted a photo of himself standing next to what I would call a rolling billboard , actually a trailer . On the side of that trailer was one of the photos I provided for the newsletter roughly 10X15 feet in size.
While I feel complimented that they chose this photo but at the same time there's no indication marking it as my work nor was any permission asked from me to use it in this way.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sharing photos and getting feedback as much as the next guy but if someone (or organization ) is going to use my images for a commercial purpose I think should get a piece of the pie that they invested  to make said rolling billboard.

So there's the situation.  Rant off.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon USA Mail-in Rebates
« on: September 30, 2013, 04:39:57 AM »
On 3/25/2013 I paid $2129 for aCanon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II . With in a month the price dropped to $2100.
B&H gave me a credit for the difference.

Today they have that same lens listed for $2499.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D III and EX 580 II flash problems

Thank you both for the advice.
It was the servo mode that did me in . One little flick of the select dial to one shot and all is good with the world again !

EOS Bodies / 5D III and EX 580 II flash problems
« on: June 24, 2013, 04:56:19 AM »
I purchased a 5D mkIII back in April as an upgrade to my 7D, I've been very happy with the new camera until the other evening when I was shooting in some low light situations with the flash.
For reasons that seem to be eluding me I can't find the setting in camera to activate the focus assist beam from the flash.  It fires with the proper exposures though I have to switch to live view for my auto focus to lock on.
When the same flash is on the 7D this is not an issue, the auto focus assist beam kicks in as needed .

Has anyone else had this problem with a 5Dmk III ?

Software & Accessories / Re: Photoshop CC Released Today
« on: June 19, 2013, 08:42:13 AM »
I'm not seeing CC yet in Adobe Application Manager. Anybody been able to download it yet?

I had the same question yesterday but was more concerned as to whether they were charging an additional fee on top of what I'm already paying for CS6 CC.  I couldn't find that important bit of financial information until I asked Adobe directly on their Facebook page.
I received two answers, 1: Photoshop CC is a separate download , not an update to existing PS CS6 extended.
 2. It is covered in the existing plan at no additional fee .

And if I may add, it includes 3D editing just like the extended version plus Camera RAW as a filter and all the new sharpening tools ( which I stayed up til the wee hours of the morning experimenting with) and they are fantastic !

In my opinion it's well worth the time to download.  Also keep in mind that if you use plug-ins like Nik software that you'll have to install them threw the standard process, dragging and dropping in to the plug-in folder will not work.

There are many good suggestions in this thread, my 2 cents : Get a 70-200 2.8 IS L II.
Since I took the plunge on that lens all my others are gathering dust.  Never before has an inanimate object made me so happy.

I can't tell you what to choose , but I can say since I purchased the 70-200 2.8 II it's on my camera 95% of the time.
