Pricewatch Deals / Re: Preorder the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x TC
« on: May 15, 2013, 02:29:37 PM »
its part of psychological marketing - tell them the case is not included.

then, sell them with the same price with case included - all of a sudden, the whole rip-off seems like a raw deal cheap.

also, pls dont forget - its a f/4.0 lens. - if you want to shoot at twilight or indoors sports/events - it will not outperform the 300,400 2.8's - let alone, the bokeh wont be as nice.

12K ???? for a lens?????

7D with Sigma 120-300 ( 192-480) make that 200-500 f/2.8
1500  + 3600 = 5100

add a tele for say 5,500 total and you got a 268-672 f4 (( 1.6x +1.4x)

that leaves you with 6,500 to buy a 1DX or the older 300 or 400 f/2.8
OR
a 5D3 with a UWAL or whatever.

it seems like you forgot an IMPORTANT THING

pls review your manual at page 73 and page 77

61 point automatic selection AF both in A+ and AI Servo Modes

dont worry, there's nothing wrong with your 5D3, just wrong user settings. :)

we all experience it - one way or the other.

they would “bring the might of its legal team” to anyone that attempts to modify at the software level,

DEAR CANON

leave your customers alone - we bought your over priced camera - let us do what we want with it.
besides - it did not cost you anything for ML to do their work.

~ we can sue you too you know - you have no business what we do with our cameras.

i end up buying another 50mm

canon 50 1.4 at amazon for $299

With a lens like that, I could see a lot of happy owners of the current 50 f/1.4 being prepared to buy a new lens.

I've already got the EF 50/1.8, Takumars 50/1.4 & 55/1.8 & 55/2.0, FL 55/1.2, Zeiss 50/4.0 (x3), OM 50/3.5 macro, and just recently a Schneider Retina 50/2.8 (in the post).

And with all of them, even I'd be interested in an EF 50/1.4 IS. You can never have too many fifties...

so what would be your fave 50mm Croubie -

i just sold my sigma 50, coming from a 50L and the 50 1.8
i missed my 50's and I'm looking into buying another 50mm again

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 1d X focusing screen
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:09:21 PM »
I used the Ec-S screen - so far, did not noticed any AE issues (at least for me)

however - I did not do any testing - I rarely do those things - I used it - no issues so far.

although - I could not tell any real difference with Ec-S and the Ec-CV and decided to put the CV back on and the Ec-S back to my 1D Mark IIN.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 1DX "Caution 02" Warnings AND Filthy Sensor.
« on: December 07, 2012, 09:59:54 PM »
so far, my 1DX, i got July 13th 2012 is clean - really clean.

although, as for the Caution 02 - I have it multiple times each shoot -

if I clear the status list, by the end of my shoot, the list is full of caution 02 :(
I used two batteries and they seem to give the same performance.

~ however - I have not noticed any issues that I can pinpoint to Caution 02 - at least - to what I experienced so far.

the canon xf300 actually has a feature built-in to recover card issues. check that out. you might loss 10 second of the footage

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Sigma 12-24 F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASP HSM II
« on: October 23, 2012, 02:47:15 PM »
thanks , that would have been an easy solution - but the problem is, the 12-24 works well on bright days and even on dim lit areas when shooting from a far,

its when the subject is close and dim that it happens and it still focuses sharp every so often - so, its not just an AF micro adjustment issue -

while im on this - i just thought about using my 5D2 and 1D2N for the 12-24 and see how it goes.

theres some new issues that my 1DX has given me as well, including the new 600RT

i noticed that when using the 600rt on camera as master paired with a couple of 580ex's that some feautures will make the 580ex not function properly. sometimes, i noticed the 580 would change settings to strobe mode on the back of the lcd.

although this is not scientific tests by any means - i have noticed irregularities in operation compared to the purely 580ex setup without mix flashes (600rt)

i do have a problem with my sigma 12-24 -

i noticed it consistently back focuses on dimly lit locations like receptions and parks at night when your subject is only a few feet infront of you - like table shoots and group shoots :(

i use it with the canon 1dx :(

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Firmware 1.1.1 Now Available
« on: October 18, 2012, 12:27:53 AM »
tested it - more like DISCO LIGHTS to me :(

and it also blinks about 15 times after you lift the shutter button.

Dear Canon - I only need to see the AF confirmation twice - not 15 times and make it BRIGHT - not Disco Lights.

~ Also, I noticed that when this new feature is enabled - during AF Servo - the Lens (70-200 IS 2.8 V2) will consistently focus hunt on dim areas and when switched back to Single Shoot - it locks AF without a problem.

I just hope this NEW f/8 feature is REALLY what it says it is. AF performance-wise.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon EOS-1D X AF at f/8 with the Kenko 1.4TC
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:08:29 PM »
now with my 1DX, im starting to feel really cheated by Canon - i really do.

my 7 year old 1D Mark IIN and 8 yr old 1D Mark II paired with a third party TC works at f/11 just fine
~ while my 1DX wont.

also - tested it on the Canon T3 - it worked - a bit slower than the 1D Mark II's but very acceptable.

      - tested on the 5D Mark II - it will AF and Lock only if you pre-focus it manually.
      - 5D Mark II without pre-focus will AF and Lock 1 out of 10 or even more - so not acceptable in any standard.

but they will work - while the 1DX wont - WTH Canon!!!!
