Landscape / Re: Sunset landscape
« on: May 15, 2013, 12:33:38 AM »
I took an excursion down to the Anza Borrego State Park, California's largest state park, in hopes of capturing the Anza Borrego Badlands bathed in a warm hue of sunset light coupled with a striking sky.  When I had finally reached my destination, Font’s Point, my whole body was freezing, the incoming winter front had brought cold temperatures as well as gusty winds from Alaska.  However, I reminded myself that if I wanted to capture the image I pre-visualized in my mind, I would have to endure the harsh conditions. In the end, I got what I came for.

Make sure you have reactive color settings like auto picture adjustments from your video card set to "OFF"

Real photographers don't waste time on non photography related forum topics like this. Why don't you get out of the house and start honing your craft instead of talking about what really in the simplest sense is nothing that will help you take better pictures...

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: Hi ISO Critique
« on: April 07, 2013, 04:09:11 PM »
Solution - buy a tripod. Critique... your shutter speed was 1/200, it could have easily been 1/50 and would have been sharper thanks to a lower ISO.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: White residue on 1DX top dial?
« on: March 28, 2013, 04:57:57 PM »
It is just sweat on the dial from your finger... just clean it off with some rubbing alcohol or water and a washcloth/toothbrush and your good to go!

This stuff also works too... just a quick and gentle rub and you'll be off shooting again :)

Why don't all of the complainers and whiners shut up, go outside, take some photos, and get a better job.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Too much dynamic range?

Don't worry about it... just start taking pictures and stop blabbing on about sensor designs, when it has little impact on your photography.  As  the great Ken Rockwell states, "You need to learn to see and compose. The more time you waste worrying about your equipment the less time you'll have to put into creating great images. Worry about your images, not your equipment."
And...
"Your equipment DOES NOT affect the quality of your image. The less time and effort you spend worrying about your equipment the more time and effort you can spend creating great images. The right equipment just makes it easier, faster or more convenient for you to get the results you need."

Technical Support / Re: Event Shooting: Camera Picture Style Setting
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:43:35 PM »
Definitely, definitely, definitely, picture style neutral.  According to Canon, PS neutral is best for rendering accurate colors under indoor and tough light. Standard would most likely render skin tones too red and suffers from color distortion.  Also make sure to shoot raw, because canon noise reduction setting destroys colors and raw gives you the ability to shift color temperatures.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 6D Official Specs
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:33:46 AM »
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the D600 blows the 6D out of the water in terms of specs... And that makes me sad  :'( GPS is not really important... it just adds weight, kills battery, adds to price, and should be an optional feature to the camera. Think Canon EOS 6D-GPS for $2099 and Canon EOS 6D for $1899.  The 11 AF point system is utterly pathetic, the 97% VF coverage isn't really any better than my old rebel, the 4.5FPS is lame considering the REBEL T4i is .5 FPS faster and $780 and the 6D is less FPS than the 5D mark III (considering they have the same Digic 5+processor and the 6D has less megapixels but maybe a weaker shutter mechanism idk), and no built-in flash (I don't necessarily want one but its one less feature that could come in handy in a pinch). I was seriously considering selling my 7D for this camera so that I could use my 5D Mark III as my main cam and the 6D as my backup, but... well... I guess I'll stick with my 7D backup for now. It seems that Canon was out of touch with consumers when making this product. And I am sad  :( I was really looking forward to this camera.  Oh and by the way SD card slots... based on the 5D Mark III, which isn't compatible with UHS-1 cards, I doubt that the 6D will support UHS-1 cards which means that you can expect ridiculously slow playback write speeds :D   It better have class leading image quality!
