Landscape / Eclipse for Australia!!!
« on: May 09, 2013, 07:40:28 AM »
Calling for help from the Aussies of CR.

If you plan on photographing the eclipse, please post some images you capture. Looks like the majority of the globe won't be able to experience it. Posted two links below that might help anyone with timing.

PS: Please take caution when shooting into the sun.

Give both a try and see which you like better. I personally use Lightroom.

I had asked a while ago for advice on photographing Chickadees. I got lots of useful advice on setting up blinds, use of long lenses, remote triggers, etc. It turns out that what I needed was a pocket full of sunflower seeds.

Taken with a 60D, 100L macro lens, ISO320....while using the camera one handed :) This is the full picture, no cropping.

this is awesome, nothing like having them eat out of the palm of your hand

The OP said he bought the 5d3 with the kit 24-105.

24-105 = general lens = check

The fisheye is definitely a specialty lens though.

I dont know what kind of photography you do,

but it seems you're missing an all around general lens - 24-70L II f2.8 (highly recommend)
and fisheye 8-15L f4, not recommended for everyone, but it's one coolest lens in my kit

Definitely a turkey vulture then. Thanks Freddie!

If you are in North America this is a Turkey Vulture. If you are not in North America it's still a vulture.

Jan, that 2nd shot is awesome!

can anyone ID this?

If budget and wide-angle is the concern, I can recommend the 28-135.  This is what I used for 70% of my pictures. Otherwise, go with the 70-200.

Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to take a trip although maybe I'll wait until summertime or global warming.  ;)

Niteclicks, atosk and erax7, those are nice also!  Eastwind, good job on the enhanced photo.

I appreciate the comment although I didn't post any photo in this thread. Unless I am misunderstanding. Keep em coming, I'm going to take a look to the west tonight and see if I can spot anything.

love this shot. nicely done!

How do I post an image? otherwise - here is my flickr image of comet panstarrs - taken with the canon 6D 200mm F4 ISO 6400 5s (normally would shoot 3s at this focal length) about one hour after sunset in Perth Western Australia http://www.flickr.com/photos/59977949@N04/8525459685/#

Not to oversimplify the situation, and definitely not the most scientific. You could put masking tape (or your adhesive strip of choice) over the rear display and keep everything in between the top and bottom sections.

I've tuned in to many of the X-Rite webinars. Yes, I know it is not a book. They do have great information in them and you can watch the tools in action.
