Third Party Manufacturers / Re: The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K

OK...today Blackmagic has hijacked the topic at all of my camera blogs....even my MFT blogs...I am a still shooter and have no desire to shoot video...and not much understanding about it...but from what I have seen the Blackmagic units blow away the 5DIII in the video dept..no contest (correct???).I am just curious...how do Canon's expensive cinema specific cameras hold up to the Blackmagic units???

they r flop from the beginning. now its death is the only choice for canon C cameras.

Still it doesn't justify more than 1500 usd.

Nikon 3200 is much better than 5Dmk 3.

Wow now thats some serious lens action - 24k for a lens is a mind blowing amount when you're used to DSLR pricing :)

I do wonder, are they really _that_ much better?

$24k is average for a cinema lens, heck the zooms they released earlier this year are both around $43k.  A full set of Arri cinema primes is between $100,000-$180,000 depending on which set you get.  These clearly aren't for consumers.

Do u think they fall into cinema lenses, with their awful focal lengths???? and being more expensive is always a justification for pro-lenses. OK we got.

14mm 3.1?????
135mm 2.2????????

and  i assume  they cost a lot of money.
if canon want money just go out and beg..

while zeiss offering 15mm 2.9 for 3000$, lets see how do u want to compete with world.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS M Specs

if i really wanted a compact and solid powerful camera.
i would go to OM-D from olympus. Not for an old sensor wrapped in new shell.

Most power comes here from the lens selection, which BTW makes it no pocketable anymore. :)

Let me re-quote myself:

If they were to front up with a decent, discreet EVF and a small triplet like the Perar below, I'd actually, surprising to myself, consider this.

If we had a couple of really simple lens designs, even if only manual focus, I think this could still be considered pocketable. The OM-D body is much larger (if it was full-frame, I'd forgive them).

I personally don't mind carrying around large cameras, as I still use medium format film, but it would be a handy addition if everything was "right."

And u think Eos-m is pocketable with all the adaptors.
who care if some body wanted shitty old sensor which fairly poor low light quality.

go ahed fan boy, buy two or more. At least canon might compensate the losses from 5d3.
