I've worked with the Manfrotto 486 for a long time and I loved the simplicity of it,but indeed it wasn't strong enough.

If you like simple,look at the Novoflex ball 40,almost the same construction as Manfrotto but much stronger.

I also have a Arca Swiss Monoball P0,my favorite now.I don't like RRS heads,to many knobs on the wrong site.

yes,it may take some time to figure out a nice set up,but for me now it works much easier and the quality is much better then any scanner I 've used before.I use a spirit level for alignment and shoot from a heavy tripod straight
 down with milk glass and a flash from the bottom.Mostly 35mm slides.

forget scanners,if you have full frame, buy a macro lens (second hand 2.8/90 Tamron if you're on a budget) shoot at f8,in RAW,100 iso,focus with live view,and the quality will be amazing,and the workflow much easier.

I have the X100 (and make a living with 2 5DIII's) and I'm gonna wait to see what Canon will do with the second M camera before I will invest more in Fuji( or Sony Nex 7 or 8?).

I also have 16/35 II and 24/70 II and I just bought the Samyang 14/2.8.  Great lens! I 've considered the Zeiss 18 or 21 too,but I think they're to close to 24,so I wanted wider.

I choose for a second 5D3 instead of a 1DX because of the silent shutter.It's less intimidating when shooting portraits.

thanks for your reaction.So should I sell the Samyang and use the 15 mm fisheye instead(lens corrected)?
It's much smaller and lighter.As far as I can see the quality is quite good,and the only disadvantage is you have to guess how much will loose of the frame after software correction.

By the way,what I would like most is Canon making a small fixed 16 mm/f4  lens...

why does a 15 mm fisheye , corrected in ACR,so that the lines are straight,still have a wider angle than a normal 14 mm?
I've made a comparison with 16/35 (II) ,15 mm fisheye, en samyang 14 mm,and I think the fisheye,lens-corrected,is the sharpest.(all shot at 2.8,same white balance)

I would like to register the middle AF point in single-point spot AF mode,and use the AF-ON button to start focussing.I use the AE lock button to start focussing any other manually selected AF point.However,the AF area selection mode isn't registered(only the AF point is) but changes to for example AF point expansion,or any other AF area mode you manually select.Is this something for a firmware update? ( and get rit of the blinking too?)

I just hate to take my eyes of the viewfinder when I'm concentrated on a photo.Maybe my perfect camera would be an EOS 3,handling and weather sealing of EOS1 ,but small as an EOS 5.In fact like the old EOS1V film camera without battery grip...

thanks for that one.Still I'm in doubt whether to buy a second 5D because I like the fact  that it's small,and silent,or a 1DX,which means I have to carry different batteries and chargers etc.when traveling.

After working with EOS 1 Ds mark I up to markIII for 10 years I've now switched to the EOS 5 mark III.A few differences in handling I find very annoying.
-you can't see which exposure mode you're using in the viewfinder!
-in A.P,S mode,when you lock exposure,you can't see how much you're under/over exposing in your new composition.
-and when switching from A to M mode for example, you'e aperture switches to the last one you used in M instead of the last one you used in A mode.This means that when switching between exposure modes in a given situation you have to adjust more then you would like.
-I also don't really like that the C1,C2,C3 function doesn't remember the changes you make during shooting (e.g..changing ISO) when the camera falls asleep.

My best handling camera ever was the EOS1D markII , best camera the 5 mark III (of course)
