Speedlites, Printers, Accessories / Re: to 600rt + st-e3 or not....
« on: July 03, 2014, 04:55:37 PM »
Something to also consider, an Einstein with cyber commander. You can use the Einstein to take pictures in full sun instead of using your quad holder that wouldn't have enough power. You can also use the Einstein for fill in a medium sized venue and your 600 on top of your camera. This is what I want next.

I have two 600s and ste3, I found that group mode is awesome and I don't have to keep manually changing my flashes on my umbrella or soft box. I can change within seconds on the ste3 which is a time saver. You can pick ettl, manual or both in group mode if you like.

I don't use the RT setup everyday, but when I do, it never lets me down. No problems on flash exposure or wireless connection.

I would try the rice trick for a 1-3 days. Hopefully that works, if not, CPS.

EOS Bodies / Re: 6D Firmware 1.1.4 released

I forgot to mention, I still get the start up screen saying "Communication with Canon LP-E6 battery is irregular. Continue to use this battery?" when using aftermarket battery. There is a 1 second pause after pressing OK, the lcd will go blank then normal. I'm using a Zeikos battery.

When I use a canon battery, there is no pause. The lcd is on and ready for use.

I have updated to 1.1.4 from 1.1.3 and all my AF adjustments didn't change. Also tried my non oem battery and it works, the battery on the lcd says its fully charged, not empty.

The 10D does have a built-in flash. I know cause I still use my 10D time to time.

For those interested, I saw this in another forum saying that the Yongnuo transmitter will be out in a couple of days.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Best tablet for on-location preview
« on: November 29, 2013, 12:33:17 AM »
what's neat, after a shoot and I was breaking down my lights and putting gear away, I gave the ipad air and have my friends preview the photos. They were amazed to get to see the shots.

My 6d is neat to show raw files on the ipad right away.

Take a look at the Dell venue 8 that runs Microsoft 8. It's goes for around $300.

Portrait / Re: Becoming a wedding photographer.
« on: November 21, 2013, 02:08:54 PM »
Maybe for the first five you do, surprise the client with a 8x10 or 11x17 print few hours after the shoot. Have a printer in your car and some cheap frames. The married couple can display it at the after party with some of your cards. Might get more clients that way.

Please don't be like those Craigslist photographers I hear of that give lousy pics and pass them selves as professionals.

For breaking news, usually they will pay close to nothing if they use a contributor's photo. Newspapers usually just give photographer credit.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Have you ever purchase camera gear from BuyDig.com
« on: October 28, 2013, 12:11:47 PM »
From what I read BuyDig and Beach Camera are the same. I didn't have any problems with both online stores.

I bought a 50 1.4 from BuyDig at a really great price. They seem to always have deals at different times, you have to act quick. Shipping was fast and I didn't have any problems.

I also Got my 6D from Beach Camera, they had great service when I couldn't charge the 3rd party battery with the oem charger. They gave me another free battery, this was when the 6D just first came out.

Software & Accessories / Re: OS X Mavericks

From Adobe:
"Adobe and Apple have worked closely together to test Adobe® Creative Cloud applications and Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications for reliability, performance and user experience when installed on Intel® based systems running Mac OS X Mavericks. (v10.9). All Adobe CC and CS6 products are compatible, but a few products require updates to the latest builds to work properly. Adobe Photoshop® CS5, CS4 and CS3 were also tested with Mac OS X Mavericks and there are currently no major issues known."

Lenses / Re: 85L or 135L?
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:48:23 PM »
By the way, there is one fault (that I know of) in this image. What is it?

Hiding the tag.

I would say its not that slow, unless focusing from 12' to 3'. Then it's super slow, but if you plan ahead of time it's not bad at all.
