Thx for all your answers. :)
I think I'll go for a EF-S lens of some kind.

Have a nice day.   :D

The 24-105 IS f4 L will work great with any crop camera.  As will any Canon lens intended for Full Frame.

The zoom range will be a little awkward, but would not be bad for some things.  If you can have only one lens, this is not the choice I'd make.

Why not explain what you intend to shoot most of the time?  Or why this lens?

I would like an all-round lens which is solid build, can handle rough environment (little rain, moisture, dust, sand etc.) and will give top crisp pictures.
But maybe some of you can recommend another lens instead?

EOS Bodies / 7D2 and EF 24 - 105 F4 L IS USM
« on: September 20, 2014, 11:24:27 AM »
Hope some of you guys can answer this question.

I will like to get the most crisp pictures with state of the art lens when I get my new 7D2.

Will it be okay to put a EF 24-105 F4L IS USM on a EOS 7D mark II?
Can there be any problems with corners etc. using the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM on a crop camera?

Thx :)

EOS Bodies / Re: New AF Technology Coming in July? [CR1]
« on: May 27, 2013, 09:11:00 AM »
Could it be AF operating in the dark (or almost dark).
That would improve focusing in dark environments using flash ??

Or could it be  Eye Control with Subject Tracking by using both Phase and Contrast AF.
A good acronym could then be:  ECSTPCAF   8)  ;D

EOS Bodies / Re: 21mp Sensor in the 7D Mark II? [CR1]
« on: April 21, 2013, 01:26:51 AM »
The technology is here. And the fact is, that that is the only thing we now.

See the sensor in 5D m3 with high ISO performance and good IQ, the 6D with WiFi and GPS, the 7D with fair weather sealing and high fps and several Canon cameras with video technology and the AF tech ass well and so on.

From a Canon board and share holder point of view the most important thing is to get as much money out us as possible. Period!

This means that we will get the new tech in small steps so we will buy a lot of cameras.
ONLY the competition will give us a camera with all known tech in ONE camera.

So pleeeeease Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and all you other great camera manufactors make dam good cameras in a dam  hurry!

EOS Bodies / 6,5 fps with 40D
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:31:10 PM »
Hi there

The specs for the EOS 40D says 6,5  fps. But think I have read/heard the that is only with battery grib and 2 batteries (and off cause plenty of light etc.) I am going to shoot skiers and snowboaders in Austria)).

Can any one confirm that?

thx

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D Mark II Rumors Surface [CR1]

If the 7D II will have the hybrid AF more or less like the 650D while taking video and better IQ under the ISO 12800 or better jet 25600 with not nesseccery more than 18mp sensor and wireless built-in it will sell like hot bread sonday morning and Canon should be happy. And we know that all that counts !
And if they (Canon) puts in good weather sealing, GPS, veri-angel touch screen and more, maybe the costumers also will be happy.   ;D

After reading this thread, I don't quite know what to think.

I did earlier write:

Canon must get their house in order

Entry level FF will be called 6D not 7DII because Canon will kill the 7D APS-C by making it FF and will not have the possibility to get back to 7D APS-C on a later time if that should fit into the lineup.
An entry level 6D makes sense.
And put the 7D to sleep and put the features into 70D, and let th 70D again be the top of the APS-C line.

This gives us this perfect lineup

1D Top of the line pro camera
3D (name saved for 3D video DSLR for movie use)
4D 46MP (or so) studio and pro 4K video camera
5D wedding and architect camera
6D Entry level FF
70D Top of the APS-C line (prosumer)
xxxD Top amateur APS-C line
xxxxD entry level DSLR

So on one hand something tells me that there will be no 7DII.
And then a 70D with all the 7D features, but improved, 22MP, better ISO, IQ, AF and DR, video features from the 650D and so on.
Nikon has just launched the D3200 with 24MP and we know marketing(Canon and all other) would love to appeal to the megapixel freaks. Not that you can compare the D3200 and a feature 70D/7DII.
Nikon is properly the main competitor and Nikon do have 4 lines: DX, DXX, DXXX and DXXXX though it’s mixed together and messy. Therefore it makes sense that Canon still has 4 lines: XD, XXD, XXXD and XXXXD (some order, please )

On the other hand the 7D has a very good position and brand  in the market and that speaks for a 7DII showing up and Canon may therefore give still room for an APS-C camera in the FF proff line?

What do you guys think?  :)

But whatever it will be called I would very much like the new 7DII/70D to be something like this:

Approx. 22 MP APS-C CMOS
ISO 100 – 25600
8-10 fps
Wireless EyeFi
1920x1080 (60, 30, 25 fps)
Hybrid AF
Stereo mic
2x Digic 5
SDXD and CF UDMA
Mid-size Magnesium alloy weather sealed body
OLED 3,2” 1.040.000 screen

This wouldn’t cannibalize from 1DX due to non-FF, lower ISO, lower fps an so on.
And if someone will say: but this is a wish liste. Yes sorry, you will be right.
But it would be an awesome killer camera and would beat all the competitors out in to the cold for many years.   ;D

And I will like to apologize for my notes with the veeeery big letters on page 7. I did not mean to be rude.  :-[

PS! Concerning  APS-H.
I don’t think we will see a news APS-H. The technology today is so sophisticated that Canon will rather please the EF-S owners and use a new APS-C (and don’t use the APS-H.)
And more importent the economic synergy in letting the XXD, XXXD and XXXXD inherit the APS-C over time is too tempting.

Unfortunately I dont believe we will see this feature anytime soon on Canon camera.  While I would love to get AF for video mode, first my understanding is most people using video professionally prefers manual focus for video.

Yes JR, you are completely right about that. But it is very very sad that Canon has grown so big that they don't care about thier semi-pros and amateur customers! ! We are many that would like Autofocus while shooting video.  >:(

If the specs are between the 1D X and the 7D and you'll buy it no matter the cost, why don't you just buy the 1D X ?

I don't like to have at 1Dx with 70-200 1:2,8L around my neck skiing for at hole day. It is too big and too havy. The 40D and 70-200 1:2,8L is havy enough. And taking pictures of skiiers and snowboaders is one of my passions.  :)

With the risc for beeing called a gearhead or whatever, I will soon change to Nikon despite I have 580EX, 70-200 1:2,8L WFT and a 40D (I know it will cost a lot).
I have sold my 20D two years ago to buy a new Canon semi-pro camera which must be able to use autofocus while taking video. Sony, Panasonic and Nikon can do it . . . .   Come ON Canon, get a hold of your self.

If Canon want to keep being the leading manufactor of cameras in the world, Canon should make a camera with the following specs (will be between 1Dx and 7D (5D mrk II):

Vari-angle monitor 3" OLED or LCD 1.1 mil. pixels display (good in the sun)(protects the oled glas)
Perhaps FF 18MP from 1Dx
ISO 100-51200
The necessary numbers of DIGIC 5+
Video 1080p mode with 60fps
Build-in Stereo mic
Head phone out
Autofocus at Video and Live View
Facedetection during both Video and still
Interchangeable Focusing Screen, Rule of Thirds known as the Golden Mean or Golden Ratio.
Continuous shooting 8fps
Magnisium alloy body
Water resistant (Weathersealing)
19 AF points with 9 cross over
Both CF and SD slots
Build-in WiFi per-to-per directly to laptop
GPS

No matter the cost, I would buy IT !!! (better than change to Nikon, that would also cost).

Listing my wishes and summing up others the perfect camera should look this:

1.   FF 18 – 21 magapixel is enuoug, rather have high ISO 100.25600 or more)
2.   Articulated screen 3,3" OLED 1.1 mil. pixels display (OLED gets better view in the sun light)
(nice when holding camera over a crowd and protection when not in use, turn the screen in against camera)
3.   Zoom in and out with finger touch on 3,3” OLED screen
4.   Live View WITH autofocus
5.   Continuous shooting 8-9 fps
6.   Magnisium alloy body
7.   Water resistant (Weathersealing)
8.   AF points as 7D
9.   2 SD Card slot (no PC’s have CD Card slot, all have SD Card slot)
10.   Be able to specify which card slots are used for stills & video. And be able to specify whether card slots are for storage & backup or continous storage for the designated card usage.
11.   A simple configurable file naming system (when you again have taken 9999 pic. you have the same name)
12.   2x Digic V for faster write speed to memory cards and general processing capability
13.   GPS geotagging
14.   Use Smart Phone as remote trigger (Bluetooth)
15.   Use Smart Phone as Live View monitor (Bluetooth)
16.   Camera to subject distance indicator in viewfinder
17.   Wireless file transfer built in
18.   Wireless flash trigger built in
19.   3G MicroSIM card giving cloud upload features where ever you are (maybe adding the MicroSIM card into at SD Card (when 2 SD Card slots)
20.   1080P @ 60 fps and autofocus during video
21.   Stereo mic
22.   Adding external mic
23.   Mini-jack for headphone device

And I would not hesitate one second to buy it regardless of the price

EOS Bodies / EOS 7D mrk. II
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:36:35 AM »
I have a very loose rumor about EOS 7D:

Vari-angle monitor 3" OLED 1.1 mil. pixels display (good in the sun)
Video 1080p mode with 30fps (or more) and Autofocus while filming
Live View WITH autofocus
Change able focusing screen (Rules of Thids)
21 mp with ISO 100-25600 (less noice)
Continuous shooting 12fps
Magnisium alloy body
Water resistant (Weathersealing)
19 AF points
Both CF and SD slots
2X Digic V
GPS
Wireless or possibility to use Eye FI SD-card

Can anybody verifi this?
