EOS Bodies / Re: New Sensor Tech in EOS 7D Mark II [CR2]

Were they not limited to a wafer resolution, have they now hot a finer resolution fab. Can they offer more MP's with this.
Or better still - curve the sensors?

Canon need an AF tech that works well with the mirror up. This will enable better video, liveview and mirrorless designs including facilitating an EVF screen.

Hello, I am new to this Forum. I came across an interesting webpage in which a 70D is shown. What do you think?

"continue to spend resources on it, tells us there is definitely a good application for the technology"

But is a dSLR what they are thinking of?

Its also 2 years since it was filed, why does publishing it make it anything more than visible for IPR use?

Yes i love the idea, but its just an idea.

" the source alluded to it being a camera body" just some neat tech feature in the new EOS M perhaps.

EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 70D, DIGIC 6 & 18mp Sensors

With the 5D3 and the 6D as the better level cameras just out, it would be Odd (though nice) for the 70D's new sensor to jump much beyond that performance. If there was a significant jump in sensor tech then i'd expect the 1D to get a refresh first/at the same time.  Sadly i most think the new sensor will mostly be a Video improvement.

Lets not forget  they need to save something interesting for the 7D mk2.
So unless the 60D was the end of the range with everything stepping down to the 100D (like the 1000D tried),

This 70D will either be a video enhancement or a 7Dmk2 to add to the prosumer 5/6/7D group.

Canon version didn't do as well...Is the D800 making the difference here?

Thank goodness someone else (and another after you) actually went and read the article, its not just the lens and unfortuantly its not as good on a canon body :(

Place holder specs :-
Focus Range   9.8′ – infinity - that's got to be a mistake 9.8 feet?   They must mean inches "

So if I get this right, Canon is taking a full frame sensor, and ENLARGING the pixels on it 7.5 times, and then market it as the best ISO performer on the market? DUH!

So the pixel count will be 18MP / 7.5^2 = 0,3 MP on a FF?

Ehm, I might have completely misunderstood, but how is this technical progress?

Me too, is this just bigger pixels?

Yeah...I would not get a FB page even if you told me I WAS the winner of the 6D! LOL.
Oh well.  :P

"Quid pro quo" If we like CR, CR grows, more chance of more competitions like this :)
I note from your Signature that you've a 5Dmkiii anyway, so if you do win and don't want it just let me know...

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Sigma Announces New 30mm f/1.4 for APS-C
« on: January 29, 2013, 06:35:34 AM »
Excellent, with the expectation of a lower cost  than their FF release last year yet still much of the quality, i really hope this may breath life into my APS-s body. for a good field of view and low light performance. Finally perhaps something worth replacing my nifty 50 with.
