Nice, but I'm not gonna make fb for that.

Yeah...I would not get a FB page even if you told me I WAS the winner of the 6D! LOL.
Oh well.  :P

"Quid pro quo" If we like CR, CR grows, more chance of more competitions like this :)
I note from your Signature that you've a 5Dmkiii anyway, so if you do win and don't want it just let me know...

Entered and fingers crossed - very exciting.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Sigma Announces New 30mm f/1.4 for APS-C
« on: January 29, 2013, 06:35:34 AM »
Excellent, with the expectation of a lower cost  than their FF release last year yet still much of the quality, i really hope this may breath life into my APS-s body. for a good field of view and low light performance. Finally perhaps something worth replacing my nifty 50 with.

Counterfeits - fair point - if i'm paying Canon I want Canon.

But 3rd party batteries etc for 20% of the Canon price I get a unit that's rated higher than the Canon one and will 'sometimes' last just as long. Granted the Canon ones may perform a little better toward the end of their lives but not 4 or 5 times better.

3rd party item make photography more enjoyable, Counterfeit items pretending to be Canon are just thieves.

EOS Bodies / Re: DSLR & Lens Coming on January 15, 2013? [CR1]
« on: January 15, 2013, 04:04:48 PM »
Looking for an announcement - Isn't Feb usually the month for the xxxD rebel ranges - are we a month out?

Is the departure of a major UK distributor - Jessops - Making it a bad time to announce a new dSLR body?

Anyway always looking out for new sensor tech from Canon.

If you were going grey, then its quicker delivery than from non UK resellers.
This market exists as Canon wants to price differently in each country :(

High speed flash sync AND high frame rates :-)

Go for the Sigma 35mm f1.4 on a crop body. But wait a while till the early adopter price drops.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: The First Canon EOS 6D Video Footage

Watching the video full screen is does not seem HD sharp is this the high ISO, poor lens, bad conversion to web video or is it really just this soft?

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon EOS 60D Body $799 at B&H

Just how much sales tax do you pay for that?

In the UK the EOS 60D is £700

EOS Bodies / Re: February & March are Announcement Months for Canon [CR2]

Looking forward to some big mature changes, stabilising the EOS-M range. big pixel and a 7D refresh. Could a EOS-M with a viewfinder and a 7D renaming scheme be one and the same thing?

EOS Bodies / Re: A Brief 2013 Canon Roadmap [CR1]
« on: November 13, 2012, 10:29:30 AM »
I wonder if 40M is the new 20M, basically will all bodies start to have circa 40Mpixel sensors including the APS-c rebels?
If so should we hold out for this next generation?
(Assumptions are that more pixels cone with enhanced Dynamic range/colour depth etc.)

Lenses / Re: Two Lenses to be Announced Shortly.....
« on: November 05, 2012, 04:21:56 AM »
Doesn't really matter. It will be months before you ever see one. What happened to the 200-400 that was all over the place at the Olympics? Pictures of it in the wild emerged a long, long time ago and nothing to be said.
It hasn't been officially announced yet, big difference, in case that escaped you

It still doesn't matter, months pass even after they are announced.  How long ago was the 500 and 600 II's announced?  They have only recently started becoming available.  Don't hold your breath with Canon, it will drive you crazy.
With so much of the development pipeline in the public view, its getting towards the stage where almost all of the current camera's you can actually buy from Canon are obsolete before you get them.
Come on Canon - shorten the announcement to delivery window.

Canon General / Re: Canon's MAP Pricing Goes Into Full Effect Today
« on: November 01, 2012, 08:11:23 AM »
Does MAP ensure that supplier margins are preserved, and so competent suppliers can now offer a better service and real photography advice rather than continually being under cut by the box shifting chains?

No one likes high prices, or unnecessary fat in the supply chain but we do like support and advice we can trust.
