Is this a way of clearing old stock, isn't the MK3 able to way out perform those lenses?

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D Successors [CR1]

We kinda hope the 70D would have a new sensor - that 18M one is getting worn out now it's in so many current bodies.
If it does and the specs converg towards the 7D then that leaves less space for a 7Dmk2.
So my hope is for a 6D which is the low cost FF prosumer answer.

Still a tough decision - this might be one to rent for a trial.

EOS Bodies / Re: Announcement Day July 24, 2012? [CR2]

The lenses will surly be new ones to go with the mirroless system if that's what it is so, a pancake, a short zoom and a longer zoom would match others.
So much to speculate on as its a new line - what sensor size is my first question?

I'm a 60 owner for just over a year now and love it. I don't do much action shooting with the subject running towards me, but i do do some dance and people shots see here:

Personally i think its great and will be big step up from where you are, but you will have to learn how to use a SLR to get the best out of it.
Also note that a big bulky SLR can really get in the way on family outings and may mean you actually get less shots.  Recent point and shoot camera's are also very good options for discrete or family shots.

EOS Bodies / Re: 4 More DSLRs Coming in 2012? [CR2]

I would like to see Canon actually deliver products they have already announced before announcing more.   The typical amount of time between announcement and availability of products has become a joke.  This is mainly true for their "pro-level" gear.
With a decent sensor and processor in most bodies, perhaps one day its just a software upgrade away.  Or even a PAYG model where you only pay for the features and shots you use?

I'd love this CR2 rumour to be true, i'd love to buy a FF camera once the initial release price drops a bit.

Lenses / Re: The Shorty Forty MTF Chart Comparison
« on: June 11, 2012, 07:49:09 AM »
Its quoted at £229.00 in the UK - £199 in the US.
As a straight conversion this should be £128.

That extra £100 is the difference between me buying it and not buying it.

It seems as if Canon consistently wants the UK to pay more for their lenses.
I love the canon product designers, but hate their marketing department.

I feel like anything from 24 to 35 would be more useful.
The Nifty Fifty is a no brainer purchase, and if there was an equivelent priced one in the range above. +1 more lens for me.

I like the mirrorless APS-H idea with the 40mm. But wow that would be an expensive sensor. Maybe they had some 1Dmk4s ones spare.

It seems like an age since Canon released any new affordable consumer lenses.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon 5D Mark III vs Nikon D800
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:13:20 AM »
I'm not saying the mk3 is not better than the 800 on noise etc. but the crop on the 800 is noticably tighter and this will make the noise look worse.
I'm a canon shooter with a 60D, and not looking to move to nikon. but if i was a big scene shooter the D800 would be a contender - LOL funds permitting.

Prior rumours were for more canon SLR's this year - does this count as one of them? :-(

Why do we think this is for an EF mount?

Speculate about an actual delivery date ;-)

Or why the new 24-70 can resolve beyond 22mp?

I love the combined focus and zoom ring.

EOS Bodies / Re: What's Next? Lenses & Cameras

Canon has 3 current 70-200mm lenses F4, F2.8 and F2.8 + IS

So there must be plenty of scope for a 24-70mm IS F2.8 in the near future - perhaps waiting to released with a new 5D body?

I assume this new NON IS lens will sell like hot cakes as will the IS version when it comes.

With much better MTF edge performance and a new 82mm filter could a new high MP camera actually have a larger sensor than FF, not much larger but more able to use the lens to the edges.
