EOS Bodies / Re: 7D Mark II for Photokina? [CR1]
« on: December 31, 2011, 07:29:01 AM »
Who wants a 7D mk2 and not a FF 5Dmk3 with more dynamic range?
Would a 21Mpixel 7D with more dynamic range from a better sensor and digic 5 be worthwhile.
New is good, but why would i upgrade from a 60D?

Lenses / Re: EF-S or EF 35 f/1.8? [CR1]

A "true" normal for APS-C (based on the size of their current 18mp sensor) would be pretty much in the middle between 24mm and 28mm,

Actually 31.25 would be  a 50mm equiv on a 1.6 crop factor APS-c from canon.

But i love my fast nifty fifty, and a cheap 35/30 or even a preferred cheap plastic 28 f1.8 would be splendid for me - if its as sharp as the 50mm.

A direct 1DX competitor.
So nikon are going for:-
D4 - Low MP, big FPS, High ISO
D800 - High MP, low FPS, average ISO.

So the 5DMKIII will be high MP to compete?
And new canon lenses to resolve detail at these higher MP's ?

AF type? Nikon seems to have a better AF approach - will canon improve theres for live view?

Big Mega pixel counts for those that don't know any better, and bigger pixel sites for those that do.

Will that allow some kind of natural product split where i have to "downgrade" MP to upgrade dynamic range.

Or rather than converting a camera for a one effect solution give it to me so i can upgrade to FF from APS-c.

Canon General / Re: Canon USA - New Lens Rebates

In the UK we get occasional cashbacks, but not normally on this many lenses.
but the rebate listed here is only about 7% - its good but not in anyway amazing enough to make much difference to making a purchase decision.

So is it going to be called the 2D, leaving the 3D name for november.

damm this wait is bad, and even after this wait we need to wait for releases, reviews and trickle down.

Come on canon.....

I find it interesting that the Singapore announcement talked of families of EOS devices, if a Foevon device came into the family would this matter.
The 7D was a new family member that very popular.

At the moment i'd guess that its FF Foevon with a dual digic v and there is a video version in 3 weeks in hollywood.

Hopes and dreams
A low cost FF - unlikely with 10fps, but sony NEX are very fast and cheap - FF for the masses - OK i'm dreaming as the rest of the camera's would be worthless.
Fourvon - possibly then MP makes sense, super DR. but again 54Mpixels being processed at 10+fps - unlikely
5Dmk3 @ 18MP - would confuse to many wedding togs untill they saw NATIVE 51200 ISO & great DR at f11 in a church.
APS- H OK but it says FF, maybe this is a mistake - rear lit APS-h with great speed and DR for olympics?
What's the hollywood event about next month, what could be released 2 weeks before that that might be releated to it?
