I found mine at a local store, Blue Moon Camera.  Just lucky.  It was the only FD L telephoto I've seen there.  I've seen others online at eBay, henrys.com, B&H used store, and KEH.com. They pop up on Craigslist occasionally, too.

Bought my FD 300mm f/2.8 L last week.  Bought the adapter tonight.  This will be my third Ed Mika lens conversion.  Looking forward to it, Ed!  +1!
Do you have a link to the video on infinity calibration?

I just found an FD 300mm f/2.8 L and plan to convert it to EF with the Ed Mika adapter.  Essentially the same lens but no AF or IS.  Also a fraction of the cost.  Here's hoping the IQ is as good as what's shown here!

Smited although I've made every effort to be positive, constructive, and polite on each post.  Oh, well.  +1 to each of you in this thread again.

@Leopard Lupus:  Here is the string from a similar post I had recently which covers a lot about tripods.  Hopefully it's helpful.

I've been leaning towards a Gura Gear Kiboko, but although the reviews are spectacular, it's a bit of an expense.

Thanks for posting.  Nice to see what the capabilities are for a lens like this.  Please post more!

Wow!  Just lovely!  I've actually been wondering about the 300mm f/2.8 for some time now, so it's great to see just what it can do!  You don't run across something like this lens just every day.

Images of European Robins from a couple of Winters back - my first trip out with my then new 7D.
What lens is this, Keith?

Thanks everyone for all the great info.  I'm going to try a  more scientific approach and see how it compares to my somewhat eccentric method.

Agreed.  Thanks for sharing the info.  +1 to you guys!

Mixed bag on eBay...  Sometimes you can find a good deal though.  Craigslist is the same.  I've been really happy with couple of purchases from KEH though!

I've seriously been considering the Kiboko and the Chobe from Gura Gear for the express reason of overseas travel usage.  I recently read a review:
that had some good info on travel restrictions.  Go down just past all the photos to a spot where they start talking about bag dimensions and you'll see that portion.

Wow!  Nice to see just what can be done with the 7D one a first serious attempt, no less!  Very inspiring!  Thanks for sharing.
